Great purchase
I am very pleased with this mattress encasement. I have a Full size 14 inch mattress. I purchased the Full XL size for up to 18 inch depth in the mattress encasement. It is just slightly larger than needed but not by much which is much better than too tight with a risk of tearing. To me, it fits perfectly. The deep pockets made it easy to put on. I don’t hear any sound when moving on the mattress either so the sleep quality and comfort are both high on rating. I also have a thin mattress fitted sheet on top. The material and zipper are perfect: strong and thick. The product even has ties to make sure the zipper doesn’t move, together with Velcro patches just in case there are tears. I highly suggest purchasing this mattress encasement even if you have to spend a bit more compared to other options on Amazon. Bravo!

These covers are easy to put on, they don't crinkle and they work for bed bugs!
Honestly I was afraid these wouldn't be comfy &/or keep bedbugs away. And worse, that they would make my husband even hotter than he is at night, but they are perfect!! I know this is long, but I think its worth the read. So I started on Amazon, I typed in "bedbug mattress covers", & started looking at the options.. I read a lot of reviews, on many products, but they all pretty much had the same thing: some good reviews, (people who seemed to know how to put a cover on & usually didn't have bedbugs), & some bad reviews (people who put it on wrong or didn't treat bedbugs with anything other than covers, which you can't do). The other reviews were almost all about whether the different mattress covers are waterproof. Since I was battling a bedbug issue I didnt care if they were waterproof, but I had caught it early enough so we really needed covers asap to keep the infestation from spreading & to help with isolation of the problem to make it easier to eliminate them completely. Anyways, I looked at about 24 different covers, looked at pictures, read the information about them from companies, & looked at the reviews the most.. None of them were enough to sway me one way or the other. When I came across the Hospitality ones, I almost didn't stop, since the prices are very reasonable. My man said just check them out since he was irritated that I wouldn't just pick one, so I checked them out, read reviews & zoomed in on pictures of the product. As I read the description, I noticed they said "lab tested", so I checked out the lab too, which was legit. So I ordered 2 right away, one for my futon & one for my daughter's twin bed. When they came, they were very soft & the zipper was tiny, that's a good thing because then the tiniest of bedbugs can't get through it. If you don't do research on bedbugs, you won't be able to eliminate them. Plus the eggs & babie are seriously almost completely clear until they feed & grow, & are as small as a grain of salt, so they're very hard to see. Well anyways, like I said the covers were super soft, so that's great. They keep out the bugs. The covers went on super easily. My husband & I put the futon cover on in a matter of 4 mins, together, we didn't even have to lift it up much, just lifted as we slipped it on. It was super easy. My daughters I was able to put on by myself, she has 2 older twin size thin matresses & a foam topper abt 1 inch thick. I was able to fit all 3 of those in the twin size cover I got for her, by myself. Along with these covers, I used all natural spray from Home Depot, & a huge bag of diatomaceous earth. We haven't had any problems since. And although these are not really waterproof, they are very easy to clean with a wet wash cloth and some 409(had to do that 2 days ago when my dog threw up on it), but you could even just use a disinfectant wipe too. They are machine wash or as well, but with bedbugs, its best you leave covers on for at least 12-16 months since they can live for a long time without food. I HOPE THIS ALL HELPED & GOOD LUCK. :)

Precaution, Prevention, Defense or Battlefield.
I left this feedback for all the items I purchased and listed here in prevention of BED BUGS. I live in a apartment building. 10 years ago in the city I live in I never heard any mention of bedbugs. Now I hear it everywhere. I purchased the following just as a precaution. Hospitology Sleep Defense System Waterproof/Dust Mite Proof Pillow Encasement, Standard, Set of 2 Hospitology Sleep Defense System Waterproof/Bed Bug Proof Mattress Encasement,80-Inch by 60-Inch, Queen Hospitology Sleep Defense System Bed Bug Proof Box Spring Encasement, 80-Inch by 60-Inch, Queen BEAP 10013 4-Pack Detector Bed Bug Coaster Trap Diatomaceous Earth Food Grade Pest Pistol Mineral Oil I read online many, many, many different suggesting and opinions. These are most popular ideas, and I agree with them. My bed is brand new and I wanted some protection. Every thing listed I purchased on Amazon is good quality and no complaints. I was very nervous the Hospitality Sleep Defense items would have a plastic feel, but it is not the case. The Hospitality Sleep Defense for the pillows and bed have a nice soft and smooth feel to them. They make my bed and pillows feel smoother and softer. They are a good quality and feel like they will last a long time and not rip. They are very big for even the biggest of mattresses or box springs. First of all the Diatomaceous Earth Food Grade box i received is big. I used this for my entire apartment and still have more then half left in the box. Using Diatomaceous Earth Food Grade, and Pest Pistol (online comments are you can also use empty plastic ketchup and mustard bottles) I dusted all long the walls under the carpet (use a dollar store paintbrush to keep it nice and neat), and in some places I lifted the carpet up and sprayed a little on the carpet tacs that hold the carpet in place. You do not have to spray it heavy, only a light coating. Then I took the electrical cover panels and sprayed inside the walls, USE CAUTION, TURN OFF THE ELECTRICAL PANEL SUPPLY. You might want to consider wearing a dollar store face mask, the Diatomaceous Earth Food Grade will blow around a little, if you get carried away with it. Make sure you spray into all holes and crevasses (even in the bathroom) behind the medicine cabinet if there are gaps, in the trimming along the walls, closets, everywhere!!! Every room, every space!!!!!!!. Online reports and comments are that bed bug like hiding behind the medicine cabinet in the bathroom, behind mirrors or photos hanging on walls, dressers, dressers drawers, light shades. I even sprayed a little on my bed frame. Keep in mind, if the Diatomaceous Earth Food Grade gets wet, it is useless and you will have to reapply it. Also note, if you shampoo your rugs a couple times a year, like me, you may have to reapply Diatomaceous Earth Food Grade after your rugs dry. Diatomaceous Earth Food Grade kills all kinds of bugs, cutting into their hard shell bodies and sticks into their joints. This definitely gives me peace of mind when I sleep or laying in my bed during the day. Bed bugs usually feed in the middle of the night, but if they get hungry they will come out all times of the day. Isolate your bed from the walls and the floors. Only have the legs of your bed touching the floor. Keep blankets from touching the walls and floor. Nothing should be touching your walls or floor. ISOLATION! Computer power cords and cell phone cords should not be on your bed when you sleep. Although there are online reports of bedbugs climbing up to the ceiling and falling down/jumping onto beds, I am not that paranoid. Because it is a death sentence for them, they cannot escape or live in the mattress or lay eggs in the mattress because of the Hospitality Sleep Defense. Always make sure you wash and dry your blankets and sheets every week. Dry for at least 20-30 minutes on hot. BEAP 10013 4-Pack Detector Bed Bug Coaster Trap are very strong and very big. I was very surprised! I was nervous, I have a QUEEN size bed with wheels under each leg. But they fit with room to spare. Use the Mineral Oil in the outer trench of the Coasters. Bed Bugs cannot swim in it, they sink to the bottom and drowns them. But dummy me, my queen bed frame has 5 legs, one leg to support the middle of the bed. I used them on my sofa also. Good luck if you find yourself with bedbugs or using these as a prevention and defense. If you do not have the time or energy, you can hire an exterminator which will cost thousands and thousands of dollars. I am the type of person I do not like to use pesticides in my apartment unless I have to. I never use those insect fumigators, they spray pesticides everywhere and you will eventually absorb them into your skin, from the floors and furniture. If you already have bed bugs, I suggest vacuuming every inch of your bed, on your bed, box, and frame head board. Then do your furniture, sofa and recliners. Sofas, couches and recliners are much harder to eradicate bedbugs from, you might want to think about trashing it. Please, before you trash your furniture, damage your furniture so no one else takes it and gets a bedbug nightmare. When you are finished vacuuming, remove the bag, put in a plastic trash bag and TAPE IT SHUT and put outside away from your house in a trash can. They start spraying the Diatomaceous Earth Food Grade everywhere. Bed Bugs are smart creatures, they are very good at hiding until they are hungry. And they will search you out like a blood hound dog. Good luck!

Perfect Fit for My Casper Mattress—Comfortable, Protective, and Reliable!
I was initially skeptical about purchasing this encasement for my brand-new Casper Dream Max mattress; The mattress has a unique design, so I worried the encasement might not fit properly or wouldn’t offer the full protection I needed. However, I’m happy to report that this mattress encasement fits perfectly—I couldn't be happier! The stretchable fabric hugs my mattress like a true glove, with no awkward bunching or shifting, even after multiple nights of sleep. It’s soft, quiet, and doesn’t affect the feel of my mattress whatsoever. I also love how breathable it is—no uncomfortable sweating or clamminess. What really sold me, though, was the peace of mind knowing that this encasement is doing its job. This is the second time I've purchased this exact product, as I had one for the mattress I replaced with my Casper Dream Max. No complaints then and no complaints this time around. It offers all of the non-negotiable features I was looking for in a mattress protector: waterproof, hypoallergenic, and offers a sleep defense system that’s both practical and reassuring. I have a tendency to overthink potential allergens or pests, especially since my dog loves sleeping on the bed with me. Having this extra layer of protection is a game-changer—I can sleep soundly without worrying about dust mite, bed bugs, or any other nuisances. If you’re looking for a mattress encasement that provides true protection without compromising comfort or fit, this is it. I can’t recommend it enough! Highly impressed and feel like I made an excellent investment in preserving the lifespan and cleanliness of my Casper Dream Max mattress.

Great quality, but wish they had just a regular Full Size case!
I looked through many reviews of bed bug mattress covers before settling on this Hospitology one. I was waiting to write my review because I wasn't sure if bed bugs were the exact source of my problem or maybe there was a flea issue too. I started getting a lot of random bites, especially in the mornings for a few weeks. At first, I thought it was a flea issue, but my dog is usually outdoors. We did see some fleas on him so I gave him some Frontline, combed out that crap, and even rubbed him with some diatomaceous earth. I also DE-ed the backyard in places where he slept a lot. Washed all my sheets, pillow covers, blankets, and vacuumed the crap out of my room, even behind my headboard. Still getting bitten. DE placed under the mattress on top of the wooden planks above the drawers under my bed. Still getting bitten. Strangely, my bf wasn't affected. And I started wondering because these bites weren't exactly like flea bites and they itched SO badly and swelled up wayyy more. Then I actually saw the little buggers and their exoskeletons tucked in the second mattress cover thing (yes, I have two covers) I had missed washing the first time. There were not many, but they were all on MY side of the bed, so no wonder my bf wasn't getting bitten! DISGUSTING! Washed everything again, then went to research bed bugs some more. I have no idea where they hitched a ride from but that's when I knew it wasn't the fleas. I read that you needed to buy a bed bug proof entire mattress enclosure case and Amazon led me to this product!! It has been almost a month now since I put on my mattress encasement and I have not had a new bite since then. I'm still sometimes itching from the old bites, but they are slowly recovering! This case has very breathable non-plasticy material and it's not crinkly either. It even velcroes over the zipper end so the bed bugs can't come out. I plan to leave it on for...ever. The price is very affordable for fantastic quality, and I think I'm going to want one for every bed I buy in the future too! The only reason I didn't give them a full 5 stars is because I have a full size bed right now and they only had Full-Size XL available on Amazon. I tried asking a Q on Amazon to see if they were going to stock Full-Size encasements soon, but no one answered me =( They have it listed on their actual website, but I couldn't see it being sold! I finally couldn't wait anymore because I kept getting bitten, so I just went ahead and ordered the Full XL cover. I just tucked the extra bit of mattress underneath at one end and pulled my other mattress covers over the encasement. It's working fine. But would have been nice to have a better fitting case! *UPDATE* I guess they do have a Full Size cover now!! I couldn't wait for it, but good to know they have it. But at least now you know that even if it's slightly too big, the case still works, and I'm definitely keeping mine on!!

great mattress cover
Unfortunately we got bed bugs. Living paycheck to paycheck i was unable to at first buy a mattress cover. We threw away our box spring and used heavy plastic and duct tape on our mattress. It worked at keeping the bugs in/out, but we quickly realized that it was horrible to sleep on. We would wake up sweaty from the heat the plastic was causing. not only that, but every movement made loud crinkle noises. After looking at many different brands of bed bug mattress covers online and in stores, i found the Sleep Defense System. It was not as expensive as some but because i saw it was designed by a physician and a hotel owner and it said that it was lab tested i felt it would be good quality. i read the other reviews from customers and decided this was the cover i would purchase. I only bought it to get rid of bed bugs but it is also waterproof which was a bonus. It was extremely easy to put on the mattress with 2 people. It also did not feel at all like plastic. after sleeping on it a few times i felt like i got my bed back. we weren't waking up sweaty and no horrible crinkle sounds. it felt like my mattress used to feel before the bed bug problem. As far as i am concerned it does prevent the bugs from getting in/out. now i am sleeping so much better and am much more comfortable. I recommend to anyone with bed bugs to get this cover it works. Too bad they don't make couch covers. LOL. now with persistant cleaning of the carpet and steaming the furniture we haven't seen any bed bugs and only have been bitten a few times in the last month. This mattress cover makes a huge difference!!! very happy with this product and when i do get another box spring i will have the Sleep Defense System boxspring encasement waiting to be put on it. THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE GREAT MATTRESS COVER!!!!!

Happy With My Purchase
I can't say anything yet concerning durability, however, upon opening this product, it feels quality. I purchased the king size and was concerned about turning the mattress up on end to install.. No need, I was able to lift each corner and slide this encasement on with no trouble! Love It! It feels nice and I would buy again from first look. I also purchased the standard and queen pillow encasements, which appear to be the same nice quality as the mattress encasement.

good (AFAIK)
So far so good! I liked that it came with foam tabs for sharp edge protection and is certified against bed bugs. I was able to put it on a 14 in mattress with a 2-3 in foam topper added on top without too much struggle as a single person, and it seems like it’s so deep pocketed I had an inch or two to spare in height. I did nearly pass away when I accidentally got it all the way on and realized it was inside out so, don’t be like me and triple quadruple confirm you have it on correctly with the slick plasticy side IN from the beginning and as you go. I will say their suggestion for how to put it on is likely best if you don’t want to risk tearing it, but I was able to shimmy it on and just shoved my mattress on and off the frame as I went to keep it from snagging. Actually, I highly recommend you actually source help doing this or you’ll risk throwing out your back out, dislocating a shoulder, and tearing the cover. I do not trust the water resistance based on past experience with other mattress encasements so I am using an added water proof topper. I would test it out but I don’t want to clean up any spills, sorry! I recommend (if needed) that you try a test spill with plain water and check to see if it’s dry underneath before trusting this layer alone to protect against spills. With the caveat that if it’s for pee protection (children, pets, incontinence), just go ahead and add another waterproof layer that only covers the top or the top and sides. You don’t want to have to remove the whole encasement after every accident, and in my experience, a waterproof encasement cannot handle high volumes of liquid even if you get to the mess quickly. Can’t speak to the noise too much due to so many layers but I will say I haven’t noticed any crinkling or added noise since putting this on. While it absolutely adds to the retained heat at night overall, putting my foam topper inside it has actually helped cool down my whole set up quite a bit. So if you use a foam topper put it under the encasement layer for a cooler sleep! The review suggestions want me to mention the comfort level… who is laying on this layer… the texture is kind of rough but not that bad (equivalent to my old waterproof mattress encasement from another brand) but I’d personally rather put down literally any other layer, even a towel, before laying directly on it. I cannot feel it through the sheets with the caveat that I use multiple layers (mattress-> Foam topper-> encasement-> fiber fill topper-> waterproof topper-> sheet)* and if you plan to do just encasement->sheet the sound, heat, and texture might actually be noticeable to you (so maybe look for other reviews from people with your set up). I am pretty confused where the zip ties sent with it go? In my mind it would make sense to zip tie two zipper pulls together, but there’s only one. For the life of me I can’t figure out what I’m supposed to zip. Would love to understand what I’m missing here. *i do this setup to protect against pet potty accidents and it is a little hot but very worth it to not have to clean my mattress to the bones every once in a blue moon when she has an accident. (Unfortunately no image because I immediately made my bed lol)

NOT BED BUG PROOF
Does NOT prevent bed bugs as advertised as “bed bug proof.” It just helps them hide better on the mattress protector and between the zippers and hidden corners. They can walk on it freely and are actually able to hide even better, increasing the infestation more than before. I took it and threw it out with the bugs that were on it. The only thing it did was stop them from going into the mattress itself, since the zipper is sealed properly, and it prevents fluids from soaking onto the mattress. That’s the only advantage if you don’t have a bed bug issue. The product is overpriced and not cheap compared to what’s on the market, and the “bed bug proof” claim is not true.

Great quality and easy to put on
So I bought this cause the reviews led me to believe this will be a quality product and it didn't disappoint. The wirecutter pick is actually for their pillow cases, they ripped the mattress protector and didn't give it a pick (I think WC messed up). The instructions said to wash before use to soften it and get rid of smells. It smelt fine and I'm not sleeping directly on it so on it went. After zipping it up there was a huge air pocket in there (good sign, if it holds in air it'll hold out water) so I opened the zipper and squeezed it out. The warranty card says 5 year warranty and to register it but the web link is broken. Overall I would recommend it.
