VFAN Sr. Pedestal

At first, I was afraid this wasn't going to be adequate, but I was wrong!! The fan head itself is smaller than I expected. On low speed, it's very quiet and there is almost no perceptible breeze unless you're right in front of it, but it makes the room feel a lot cooler. I use it in the open living-dining-kitchen in my condo, which is ~850 sq ft, and it's plenty adequate, just on low. Yesterday was 94 out and I didn't have to turn on my split unit because of this. I live in a dry climate so I can get away with that easier, but I open all the windows at night and in the morning when it's cool and blow cool air in with fans, and then close up before it starts to get hot. My normal summer protocol is I turn the split unit on if it's gonna be 92 or higher but I was perfectly comfortable yesterday and didn't need it at all. Using the split unit adds a lot to my electricity bill and I just prefer not to use it if possible and this will help. It is louder on medium and high speeds, as would be expected, but I doubt I'll ever have to use it on high in the first place, and it's not very loud on M. I never would have thought a fan could look beautiful, but this kinda does, and it's perfect w/my decor.

I really like how it works with my AC & ceiling fan to cool down my family room. It fits right in front of the AC vent and really moves the air. I can feel the breeze when I am almost opposite of it, so I know that it is really circulating the air. It is quiet and the retro design is very nice and a big reason why I bought it. It is sturdy and well made. Vornado seems to stand by their products and I had an older one that they replaced under warranty with no problem. I bought the white one and the color will go with decor in more than one room, although it is pretty heavy to move up and down stairs. More colors would be nice, but I am very happy with the white one. I may have to purchase another one for my bedroom! I have had this for a month or two because I didn't want to wait around and was afraid it might become out of stock. Now that we are in a heatwave I am so happy that I have it.

Had enjoyed the qualities of Vornado fan due to acquiring a portable one years ago. Needed an additional one that could be elevated and discovered this one. Was delighted to find one with retro design and just the right extended height. Love the colorful finish too. As others have noted, it is very quiet and provides 3 very useful fan speeds. The weighted base ensures stability. Head tilts to enable directing air where needed. Arrived in minimal, protective packaging, no styrofoam! Easy to assemble. Very pleased indeed!

Quick update: June 2019. I've reduced my star rating from 5 to 4 because the fan is starting to make light clinking sounds in operation. This fan is only used during summer months and it should still sound as smooth as new. It seems way too soon to start to make noise. Original review: This Vornado stand fan impressed me as soon as I removed it from the box. The head and base are made of heavy metal that has a retro look and looks like it will last forever. I was less impressed when I began to assemble the fan. I followed the directions by laying the head of the fan face down on my bed. I then began to assemble the pole to attach to the head and base of the fan. The diagram shows the pole fully extended and shows where to attach the collet. "Slide lower pole onto upper pole. Using provided hex wrench, use counterclockwise rotations to remove set screw from collet. Slide collet onto lower pole until it stops. Check to make sure holes in collet and pole align. Replace set screw and tighten clockwise with hex wrench. To avoid damage to product, be sure set screw is fully aligned and engaged with hole in lower pole. ". Despite the clear directions, the holes did not align and my frustration began to build. I read several other reviews that described the same issue. Disappointed, I decided to pack it up and return it. I started to slide the pole pieces into the short position and noticed that the holes were aligned. I opened it back up and they were no longer aligned. Closed it again and they were aligned. So while the pole was closed in the short position, I set the screw and opened the pole back up. Perfect! I then added the head and base as directed. Once my new fan was assembled, I turned it on to hear the beautiful lull of the fan. I'm using this fan in a room that is about 500 square feet. This fan circulates the air VERY well and I'm quite pleased! I've used this fan for a couple of months and it's operated smoothly every time. I wish the plastic blades were made of metal, as I love the sound of an old-fashioned metal fan. It's quite soothing and reminds me of the nights I spent with my grandmother when I was a small child. This fan looks retro but doesn't sound it. It's very quiet and not intrusive. Most people probably prefer that. I would like to suggest to Vornado that they edit their directions and diagram to clearly state that the pole pieces must be in a shortened position for proper hole alignment. I still love this fan and would easily recommend it to my own family.

I absolutely love the style and quality of these Vornado Vfans. This summer was brutal, so we invested in a second one for our bedroom... I ran both of ours non-stop this summer. Quiet and dependable!

I previously bought a Vornado Petite Alchemy Vintage Air Circulator and was disappointed in its lack of air flow and cooling despite its well-crafted appearance and materials. I had my doubts about the Pedestal fan since its design was similar to the petite version, but at a greater scale, and was pleasantly surprised to find that this model provides a comfortable breeze even at its lowest setting on days where the temperatures can range from a humid 80-90 degrees. I usually run the air conditioner for an hour to cool and cut the humidity in a room, followed by use of this fan to circulate the cooled air with pleasant and lasting results. The retro design fits seamlessly within the eclectic mid-century, industrial, and classic interior blend of my home and its materials match the quality of furniture from yesteryear. I only wish the fan came in the gunmetal and brass finish of the petite version. I was pleased to find the green of the Pedestal fan to be slightly darker than the more pastel green in the product photos. This fan is a stylishly welcome change to generically designed box and tower fans without sacrificing function. Recommended.

We just got our fan and put it together last night. It assembled perfectly. Once we laid it out on the ground, honestly didn’t need the instructions. It was pretty straightforward. We bought the full-size, with the pedestal, in white. This fan is substantial and heavy. Seems to be made mostly of metal. We bought it more for looks and as a decorative piece, but it moves air fairly well—3 speed choices. We have one small Vornado fan that is at least 5 years old and still runs like new, so I am assuming this one will hold up. Standing back and looking at our living room, the fan makes the room look BETTER. It is so cute and is a very classy, interesting decorative piece! We just redecorated the room, and it fits very well with our other decorations, furniture, etc., in the room. Love it, and it seems to be well worth the price so far!

I was nervous to buy as it’s kinda pricey. I like the style and color and kept coming back to hem and haw. I live in a loft without AC. My hope with the air circulator was to get the warm air moving upstairs. The fan is not facing towards me and yet I can feel a coolness moving around me as if it is. I think this is the circulator doing it’s thing. It’s came minimally but well packaged with the sturdy shaped cardboard that’s easy to recycle. It was very easy to put together. I really like the aesthetic and the shade of blue green works with my home. I don’t like the sounds of fans and am often bothered by overhead kitchen and bathroom fans. I don’t find this van overly loud or in a high or weird pitch. The fan is very sturdy and well made. I am happy with it and think it should last me for years.

It’s on the quiet side, and moves a lot of air. If it breaks, it’ll be easy to repair, because it’s well designed and made with quality materials. You can spend half as much and get the same airflow. Or the same aesthetics. But not both. And nothing at half the cost is going to be as sturdy and well built as this. So is it worth it? Probably, because it’s a good fan with good aesthetics made of mostly metal (not the blades though). I have other fans that work just as well, but they’re not as quiet. If you want a pedestal fan that doesn’t make a room look trashy, this is it.

This is my third review. This is a powerful fan, well designed and acceptable sound. My fan started to make a terrible noise after almost 2 years and I received a new fan in less than 48 hours as a replacement. If it works fine, this is a great fan even in compare to dyson fans.

En general los ventiladores nunca an sobresalido por su belleza, normalmente son dispositivos feos. Este ventilador puede estar en la sala en las areas publicas de las casas sin desmerecer con el resto de la decoración. Ya tenia muy buena experiencia con un par de Vornados 723DC que los tengo permanentemente prendidos. El VFAN es por mucho el ventilador de piso mas bonito de Vornado, es de mental, bien hecho, cumple su función de circular el aire y como mencione arriba, es excelente para-areas públicas de la casa. Para las habitaciones donde se busca tener el mínimo de ruido, es mejor un ventilador con motor DC. En Vornado son los "energy smart". Dicho lo anterior, son menos ruidosos que un Minisplit. El ventilador lo tengo encendido y en las noches muy calurosas enciendo el Minisplit. Otra ventaja es que estos ventiladores no se apagan. Tengo un par de ventiladores Pelonis con motor DC, que uso en un patio interior y hay que estar prendiendo cada 12 horas. En conclusion es un excelente producto y solo podría ser mejor si también lo ofrecieran en "energy smart", es decir con motor DC.

I really love the retro feel and the sturdy construction of this space fan. I live in a small apartment that gets in a lot of sunlight and my space definitely needs a good fan, which I found with Vornado. The sturdy metal adds to the charm of the Vornado designs. This is the third Tornado product I've purchased and now very loyal to the brand. MADE TO LAST
