maybe if it was like a rear window defroster on a car where it ...
not impressed. The mirror is hardly fog free, I remodeled my bathroom and had this installed, paid extra to run a switched GFCI outlet for it, wired it to the shower light. had an access panel installed in a lower corner of the bathroom in the event I need to get to the transformer. If I switch on the mirror 10-15 minutes before the shower water, it will stay mostly fog free, about 50% of the mirror does fog starting from the edges and moving inward. If I turn the hot water on full hot and hose off the mirror then turn the water down to showering temp, it will stay fog free for about 10 minutes again starting to fog from the edges in.I had it now about 2 weeks, the heating element just doesn't cut it IMO.. maybe if it was like a rear window defroster on a car where it was layered between two plates of glass, but having it exposed on the back, and thus sitting against the thinset on the wall tells me it is heating the wall more so than the mirror.I have now taken to coating it with some RainX, which has helped significantly reduce the fogging, Since the mirror has to be cleaned anyway using the RainX instead of Windex or vinegar is not a big deal.I think if the heating element was layered between some glass instead of just stuck on the back it would work better, it would also make for a better install as then the glass mastic could be coated on the entire back (like a normal mirror install) and make for a more secure installation. My contractor was worried about having such a small area with the Mastic that he devised a 1/8" lip using some travertine pencils around the outer edge, this made for a nice design, but it will be hell if I ever have to remove the mirror.

Worth it.
For those of us that shave in the shower, this is awesome. It sits flush with the tile and is very neat and easy to install. However, if you don't have it on and it fogs up, switching it on will not clear it up easily. It takes time. I have since wired it to my shower light so it comes on when the shower is in use. A little expensive but for something that you use every day, its worth it.

Six years and its fantastic
Okay, this is not per the manufacturer recommendations, but I plugged mine in six years ago and have not turned it off since. It uses a tiny 18W of power and the mirror stays warm to the touch at all times. I have never had it fail or fog once.

Great fog-free performance, elegant looks
Purchased this mirror 9 months ago, installed for 5 months. Easy to install, flush with my 1/4" tile. Installed on separate switch next to shower lightswitch (since I have a window in the shower-room and sometimes don't need the light). First experience in shower was absentmindedly showering, then suddenly realizing I had a completely clear mirror looking back at me - shaving game on! No more squinting, rubbing/clearing tiny fogged up shower mirror. Now have huge fog-free surface to work with. Awesome!

It works!
Works perfectly. Only downside is having to install a separate electricity line.

Crystal Clear
This product does exactly what it says it will do. A pleasure to use in the shower. Warms up in about 5 minutes. You do need to be able to supply low voltage power to the back.
