25th anniversary edition of the Adventure Motorcycling Handbook ‘The first thing we did was buy Chris Scott's 'Adventure Motorcycling Handbook’ Ewan McGregor, The Long Way Round ‘Adventure motorcycling’ (a term Chris was credited with coining in the late 90s) has grown massively since the last edition of AMH. Now in its fourth decade, the much revised and expanded AMH7 catches up with all of it, covering among other things: • planning, sponsorship, riding seasons, fuel prices • bike choice and recommended models • the gear: what you need, not what you can buy • Life on the Road: borders, comms, police trouble, satnav, filming and moto troubleshooting • Comprehensive overland route outlines in Africa, Asia and Latin America – aka: the Adventure Motorcycling Zone • Contributions from among others: Lois Pryce , Walter Colebatch, Gaurav Jani, Grant Johnson and many other two-wheel adventurers. Maps by Nick Hill Now at 400 pages, the book no longer assumes you’re an experienced tourer who’s decided to take off to the outer limits. Many AM riders are much like Ted Simon was in 1970s; individuals in search of adventure and who happen to choose a motorcycle. Readers aren’t expected to have an in-depth knowledge of mechanics, travel health or navigation, so there are fuller explanations of how things work and why certain choices are worthwhile, as well as a comprehensive listing on troubleshooting. This now makes AMH7 as much a take-with book as one to consult during the planning stage. What really makes the AMH special, however, is that it capitalizes on the knowledge and experience of over 30 globetrotting contributors covering regions, topics or their specialist knowledge in added detail. These contributors—as well as a light touch—is what’s helped make Trailblazer’s Adventure Motorcycling Handbook the legendary manual after 25 years in print. .AMH6: everything you need to know, in one book

An Informative Book--and A Great Read
This classic book deserves all the great reviews as an adventure handbook, but perhaps overlooked is the fact that this book is a great read. The style is terse, gritty, compact, complete with a touch of irony and seasoned with wry comments. I especially enjoy the short summaries of other overland traveling motorcyclists--I could read a whole book of these accounts. If you plan on a serious motorcycle adventure trip, read this book. If you like reading about motorcycles and interesting places, read this book. And re-read this book. And re-read this book

The hype is real. Get this book before anything else in the Adventure Bike world.
I heard a lot of recommendations for this book but thought it had to be a lot of hype. I was wrong. Immediately upon opening you can tell this book has some weight to it. The quality is immediately noticeable. The cover is nice and the pages are done in that nice texture that crisps up the pictures and text to be super clear. The book is jam packed with information and is more of a resource book than anything else. I am going to use a lot of Post-Its as I am reading for sure. If you are toying with the idea of getting into Adventure Biking this is a must. You may find it becomes a passion or you may find all your allusions swept away with the truth contained within. Either way, you can't do much better for sub $20.

Outstanding
Great book and truly the Bible for adventure biking. Easy to read, well laid out, and makes you want to spend more time on two wheels. Next road trip this is coming along just for pleasant reading by camp fire or hotel room! I really can't speak highly enough of how pleased I was by the book.

more information than you will ever need
This book is jam packed with information on everything from packing to ID's and other information.I can't believe how many times I said to myself "I didn't know that". I've ridden 300k miles inside the US but never outside yet... and this book gave me a basic understanding of what to expect.

Far away places touring guide
Well, a WORLD of information here in this book about the writers travels in far off lands. Lots of technical info concerning various motorcycle specs and even emergency repairs. Customs requirments and currency exchanges. Its all here, not quite what I was looking for as I was planning a simple camping/ touring trip to alaska, but an interesting read if your into things like a trip to Argentina or Zimbagua or Pakasastan or some far off place.

Amazon, come sempre, impeccabile

Don't think about it, just buy it
This book is utterly brilliant. I'm 52 years old and completely new to motorcycling. I must be going through a mid-life crisis or something as I've never had any interest in motorbikes whatsoever until about 6 months ago and now I can't get them out of my head. I keep thinking about going on an adventure, riding a motorbike around the world maybe. I buy my weekly copy of MCN every Wednesday and read all the monthly mags like Bike and Ride, etc. I've become addicted to it. This book covers everything you could possibly want to know about adventure riding. I feel that I could now go around the world on 2 wheels with complete confidence. That might sound completely bonkers taking into account how very inexperienced I am but what the hell. If I don't do something now, when will I. Don't even think twice about buying this book, the author has been there, done it and bought the t-shirt. I'm off now to start reading another book that landed on my doorstep yesterday from Amazon called 'Proficiency In Motorcyling'.
