Don't Toy With Me Miss Nagatoro, Volume 2

There are better antiheroines in manga
I gave the first volume of Don't Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro a critical review, not liking its title character. However, other reviewers made the point that the series would pick up, so I gave Volume 2 a chance. I am sorry to report that I must stand by my earlier comments. Nagatoro is a very unpleasant character and I highly doubt I'll be around for Volume 3. I think of some other antiheroines in manga, particularly Hime, from Yuri Is My Job! and Tanya from The Saga of Tanya the Evil. I find them far more compelling. Hime is shallow, devious and obsessed with building an image of herself as the epitome of adorable. But she's also lonely, terrified of rejection and sadly oblivious to the fact she's found people who love her for herself, not her image. Tanya is a ruthless, self-serving conniver but we see she has been forced by a god she doesn't worship to be a latter day Joan of Arc in a war she doesn't want to be in (and yes, these capsule descriptions are my sly way of trying to get people to check out these under-rated series). I think it would have helped if Nagatoro had more of a backstory so we could see beyond a mean-spirited girl.

So nasty, that she's adorable.
It's becoming more & more clear that Nagatoro has feelings for senpai. But it begs the question - why, exactly? What would draw a beautiful, energetic, popular girl like her, to a mousey, withdrawn, nervous, introvert like him? Hmmmmmm! As a wise man once said, "I saw nuting, I hear nuting, I say nuting!" So there ya have it. Guess we will just have to wait to see. Art, good. Dialogue, good, but kind of harsh at times on her end. Characters, somewhat believable, and in Nagatoro's side, you just wanna say "I love to hate you", as the song goes.

Is this even going anywhere???
Seems to be a repetitive series sadly I probably won’t bother reading onward or purchasing any new volumes cause it’s just a waste of time and money; I wasn’t expecting some elaborate plot but even the jokes and I guess if you wanna call harassment romance well even those parts are just dull by now and after reading the same non sense for two volumes it’s become predictable in a very cringe way.

naga-chan keeps up her torture of senpai.
volume 2 has more of the delightly wicked miss nagatoro continuing her sweet assault on her senpai's sensibilities.. this is a must have manga!

Better than the first volume.
I bought this a while back and don't remember a ton of details, but I prefer this one over the first in terms of character. You get to see more characters that are Nagatoro's friends and all have interesting interactions with Senpai and Nagatoro. You also get to see a much cuter side to her as she starts to show her more natural behaviors. I have high hopes for the next volumes.
