Question 1

The 2016 model appears to only have 60 MHz refresh where the 2015 model has 120 as the refresh rate. Can some one confirm if this is true or a typo

Accepted Answer

The only time 60MHz would matter is if you plug a gaming PC into it. It doesn't matter for movies because they run at 24 FPS (a few run at 30 like The Hobbit but it's very rare) and if you use a PS4/Pro or Xbox One/S most games run at 30, some at 60, and few if any run higher. It's just a cost-cutting measure, because this TV is really good value for the price point, just make sure to plug your console or 4K player in the HDMI 3 spot, not all HDMI ports seem to run 4 (that HDCP compliance thing).

Question 2

Does the HDR work with the Xbox One S?

Accepted Answer

Hi! Our software engineers are working on an update to enable HDR10 via HDMI input, which would give the compatibility to Xbox One S. The update is schedule to come out in late September. And you should be able to get the update by going to "Settings">"About TV" > "Check Firmware Update". If you can't receive an update over the air, you can always contact us at 1-888-935-8880 to request for one.

Question 3

Has anyone successfully enabled 4.4.4 Chroma on this model?

Accepted Answer

NO!

Great TV. We love it. But it’s max is 4:2:0 HDR. It CAN go to 4:4:4 but then HDR gets funky and looses all detail.

Also the contrast ratio is pretty poor so as long as you are aware of those drawbacks it’s a great tv.

Question 4

Does this tv have funimation and crunchyroll they are streaming apps

Accepted Answer

They do not and "app" support is probably one of the areas I would say HiSense might not be super strong. LG, Samsung, Sony, etc. have very large customer bases and LG for example with WebOS has a consistent platform across all their modern TVs. It remains to be seen if HiSense will have the same level of ongoing development/support for it's smart TV platform. That being said, I personally was sad to see no Hulu on the TV but a quick work around for me is to just use the apps for things I want on my phone or tablet and "cast" them to the TV (which is a built in function as well).
