Major Improvements With The Mounting System - Review Updated
The antenna came with an undocumented bonus! The dish to pipe system has been upgraded. Included is a mount (see PIX) that allows the elevation and azimuth to be adjusted while the dish is firmly secured to the vertical pipe. The original 'L' plate is included, marked "Alternate Mounting Bracket". The new system is FAR superior: After locking the dish down on the pipe, the azmiuth and elevation are easily tweaked. Once in position, two nuts are tightened and done. This new mount is not mentioned anywhere in the documentation - it is attached to the dish exactly as the original 'L' bracket would have been... There are issues with the original 'L' bracket, with the elevation slot. The clamp holding the entire dish assembly must be loose to adjust AZ/EL, while keeping the clamp stable. Adjusting one causes the other to slip and a third arm is really helpful. I know this for fact, as I have another 2' solid dish using the exact same 'L' bracket. The new AZ/EL mount alone makes the price of this dish acceptable. OK, in conjunction with the NooElec SAW+GOES filter/amplifier driving 20' of double shielded RG-55 cable (53 Ohms), the dish performs fine, in a snowstorm here. The SDR here is the RSP1a by SDRPlay, and SATdump software is used for decoding the images. The SAW filter and amp must be mounted at the pigtail lead from the dish. Any additional cable between the dish and SAW WILL degrade overall performance. My SAW is powered by an external bias-tee between the SDR and cable end in the shack, as the RSP1a lacks sufficient current capability on it's bias-tee. Note that the NooElec SAW+Goes is NOT waterproof. As can be just seen in the PIX, I used a 5" long pill bottle, with a hole drilled in the top to just accept the pigtail lead. After connecting the pigtail and output coax, the SAW slides up into the bottle, and coax seal waterproofs the top of the assembly. That said, as others have indicated, the overall quality of the dish is marginal to poor. Fit and finish is rough. There are sharp, unfinished edges between the dish mesh sectors that can cut skin. I gave a 5-Star rating due to the inclusion of the superior AZ/EL mounting system. Big PLUS. I installed this rig during a snowfall...note the mount PIX. The mount has two bushings at 90 degrees from each other, with a long 10mm bolt. When loose, the azmiuth and elevation are easily adjusted - there are detents on the mount to make positioning easier. Once set, simply tighten the two bolts ... no messing with the mount to pipe brackets. I may be wrong, but NooElec does not manufacture this kit. The antenna boom assemble has Chinese labeling, and no pains were taken on the dish fit and finish. Have Fun! UPDATE after several days of perfect reception: Observing the picture of the mount, note the coax pigtail exiting the feed antenna boom. It is impeding the elevation - it is just about maxed out at 39 degrees due to the pigtail. Simply reversing (rotate 180 degrees) the dish on the mount places the pigtail BELOW the elevation adjust, allowing full 90 degrees of EL if desired. This new mount is lights out good!

Easy to use and worth the money -- if you know what you're doing.
It's amazing to me how easy it was to get signals from GOES 19 using this antenna. I had been trying to use an old DirectTV satellite dish, which is about the same size, with a homebrew feed; but I kept having difficulty pointing it because of the offset feed angle. It was also very bulky/heavy. The Nooelect grid parabolic is light-weight, and the axial feed makes it easy to point! You still need to be within a couple of degrees, but it's a lot easier to figure out where to point. And the feed is of course professionally designed and sized to be efficient and at the correct focal point. It took maybe 30 minutes to assemble the antenna. But once I got it outside, I had it up and receiving GOES 19 using an RTL-SDR.com dongle, Nooelec SawBird+ LNA, and SatDump within about 5 minutes. The savings in time and stress (for what is intended as a portable setup - which means aiming fast is important) with this antenna make it well worth the cost. I do wish that it shipped with printed assembly instructions, but it was pretty easy to figure out where the bolts are supposed to go after looking at the parts for a couple of minutes. Tip: if you need to adjust the elevation by a few degrees between "clicks" / detents on the mount, you can use a zip tie or two, tied between the grid antenna and the mount, to hold it in place at exactly the right angle. Probably not necessary for GOES to be that precise in elevation angle, but it does give you a little more control.

This thing is way cool
While it's only a dipole, which means you take a 3dB (half power) hit on a RHCP signal, it still works phenomenally well for GOES. Mine is on a AZ/EL tracking system, so I t also works phenomenally on HRT signals from NOAA and meteor. You HAVE to use the SAWBIRD filter with this antenna for GOES, and it HAS TO be right at the antenna - not 10' away. other than that, works great, and the price point was decent too.

Only Game in town. Decent price. Not turnkey.
Pretty much the only game in town but since it's a converted WIFI dish, the lack of proper skew adjustment (meaning if you are not at near 45 degrees you'll need to finagle something to compensate or you'll lose too much signal) and the fact that in general it's annoying to work with deduct points. I built my own back in 2019 and thought that spending some money on a "commercial" setup would make it easy to mount something permanently as a quick project and it's not turning out to be a quick project. It might also have a loose connection in the supplied feed but I am not 100% sure yet because I have failed to mount this thing permanently three times now so it can still be alignment. I did not have the issues I am having now with my lashed up grid dish and a LPDA feed back then. Maybe the satellites are just weaker now since they are different birds. I have received stuff with it though so it probably does work. As much as that sounds like a criticism it's a fair price for what it is. It's getting super difficult to get any kinda of dish antenna because I guess everything needs to be streamed now... My dish in 2019 was a mmds dish from the 90s... The comments about you cutting yourself up because no one buffed up the mold spurs before powder coating the antenna are 100% true too. The new mount is better than the old one but it doesn't correct the skew issues and honestly should have pushed the pipe further behind dish. I am happy that Nooelec makes what they do, don't get me wrong.

Easy to use
Took me about 10 minutes to set up by myself, set it up outside and next thing I knew I was receiving HRIT.

Works well, but some tips you should know to avoid frustration
This works well, and with careful tuning you can get a VIT as low as single digits with good coax and a good LNA, which is phenomenal for a grid antenna. As others have said, basic sighting at the right azimuth and the declination for your location (use Dishpointer.com to get these for your location and GOES satellite) and you will soon see signal and images come in if all else is right. But, you'll want to make it as best as possible, and from there let me offer a few tips. First, you are best not using either mount that comes with this dish. While both are workable, you will find yourself terribly frustrated by the lack of precision allowable with the supplied mounts. You will find yourself much less frustrated if you get a DBS dish mount and retrofit it on the back of the antenna. I used an old DirectTV az/el mount from ebay and the ability to make minute adjustments in azimuth and elevation made all the difference. These mounts require a 2inch OD pipe, but are worth the slight cost because they will eliminate many headaches. Second, I only recently realized how much pain I was causing myself when using remote access software to tune the antenna. I was using team viewer for years to see the signal quality on the PC, and viewing it from my phone at the antenna. Seems like a great and convenient way to do that, until you realize, like I did, that there is 100's of milliseconds of latency (delay) between when you make an adjustment at the antenna, and when the effect it causes it appears on your phone. To call this maddening is an understatement. There are ways to mitigate this, and directly talk to the PC using Teamviewer and a local network address and not their servers, but if you can avoid this, you will have an easier time of it. Maybe have someone watch the screen for you and shout out numbers, or even better, bring laptop to the dish, connect an SDR and LNA to the laptop and then to the antenna so you can see the 1694.1 GHz signal directly and in real time. This was the solution I eventually used, and you will find this a much easier way to fine tune. I've been receiving beautiful images from the GOES birds for years, and it is very enjoyable and satisfying. Using an aggregation/viewing tool like Vitality GOES (free) makes this even better. Enjoy!

Works, but quality below average
If you just need GOES pictures, this antenna will work OK. However, manufacturing quality is subpar. Some of it is fixable, but requires quite a bit of work. Here are the problems: - The aluminum casted reflector has very low quality. There are casting burrs everywhere. You may want to be careful as I cut my finger on one while assembling. I have a suspicion that white pant on the reflector is a way to hide imperfections. - Included hardware not matches the setup: bolts are 1" too long, bolt neads do not fit into slots, etc. - The boom needs alignment. It moves quite a bit and it slides agaist the reflector. There is not an easy way to center it easily. - RG-8 feeder cable is bent and zip-tied to the boom for transportation, and that deformed it, likely by long storage. That will affects performance. - Provided bolts/nuts are stainless steel, but mounting brackets are not. They are heavily magnetic and likely just galvanized steel. Be careful to not scratch them as they will rust quickly if you do.
