This is a plated all brass body float style air vent for hot water heating service. So far this walve is preforming the way it should. Like the amtrol unit the insides are High temp plastic with plastic threads sticking out of the top of the body which is a little disapointing. However, the cap that threads down to seal off the discharge is brass and made very well unlike the cap on the Amtrol unit that can be easily striped if over tightened because it is plastic. Overall, I would recomend this product, so far all ten units that I purchased have worked well for me.

Easy install at high point in the attic. The old valve that was replaced by this required manual bleeding. Even at that it was nearly impossible to get all the air out. This thing works 24/7 trapping and bleeding air. Now I only know the heat is on if/when I hear the furnace, NOT by gurgling sounds in the pipes! Just one for the whole house. (Your mileage may vary depending on how your zones are set up. But, one per zone - well placed - should do the trick.)

This item was not available at my local home depot, so i bought it on here. This works exactly as it should. This item is designed to screw into the top of the air scoop right above your expansion tank near your furnace. 1/8 NPT threads. Crazy easy to install. You dont need to reef down on this during installation. Hand tight is good enough. Also, I like that there is a hex that is machined into the base of this (near the threaded end) that you can use to uninstall it just incase some potato head installed it with a pipe wrench or something. been working good so far. works exactly as it should.

I installed two of these on my forced hot water furnace. One on top of the boiler and the other on top of the expansion tank. I had first drained down the boiler to relive the pressure. As I was filling the system, the one on top of the furnace, (cap was loose), started leaking badly. But after I tightened the cap on, there was no more leak. The one on the expansion tank (has cap loose) and doesn't leak. I believe I read someone wrote, the caps are meant to be tight on, as not to let air into the system...? Do whatever works. Prior to these two, one lasted 19 years and the other only 5.
