Regarding the HMR above, my 16 year old 20 lb poodle has Cushing's disease which causes incessant itching and licking often to the point of bleeding. Gave it to him to help him sleep but just realized in a larger dose it seems to be making him almost completely itch free.  Therefore,  I'm praising this. I started with 1 pill per day now I'm up to 3 with no ill effects.

There are three important factors to consider when choosing lignans for dogs: (1) type - HMR lignans or SDG/Flaxseed lignans, (2) amount of lignans per tablet and (3) additional ingredients. Magnesium stearate is NOT toxic to dogs nor to people. It is typically obtained from coconut or plant based oil and magnesium and it is one of the most widely used binding agents (holds the active ingredients in the tablet together) in tablets for both humans and pets!
