STU-36 Stainless Steel Pond and Aquarium Clarifier, 36-watt

I’ve tried aeration, bio filters, bio balls, barley extract, flocculence, enzymes, small micron filters in both my skimmer and water spill, all to no avail. After installing this in-line UV light, I ran it 24 hours a day for five days with excellent results. I will now reduce the duration to 12 hours a day (the UV light is controlled by a Wi-Fi timer ) to determine the minimal length of time needed to keep the pond clear; I will adjust the duration accordingly. FYI – installation extremely easy, no leaks and seems well made.The two photos attached depict before the installation of the UV light and after.

My pond water was green & I couldn't even tell where my ton if fish were. I tried everything & no improvement! I figured I'd give this a try. I thought it would take longer, but I noticed a huge difference in just 24 hrs & after 2 days the clarity is 100% better! I highly recommend this product!

UV filter works great, cleared the pond water quickly

I have this installed on my 125 gallon saltwater reef aquarium for algae control. It works. Too small to use for control of microbial pests like ich, but it really controls nuisance algae well. I bought the stainless steel model thinking it would be more durable than plastic. It's not what I had hoped for. The saltwater has slowly corroded the lower-quality stainless steel to where it now has several tiny holes that allow it to leak. The plastic did not fail, just the steel sleeve. The unit still works fine and could perhaps be fixed with JB Weld or 3M 3200 marine sealant but its not worth the risk. I did get almost 3 years out of it though so I guess that reasonable but still a shame because it could have lasted much longer if made with better steel or all plastic. I'm sure it would last much longer in a freshwater application however. You do need to replace the bulbs and clean the glass sleeve over 8-12 months to maintain effectiveness however.

Easy to set up

I got sick of replacing my light in my sealed filter and decided to by an external uv source. This is a bit of overkillfor my small pond, but it was used and cheaper than the next size down. It did what I needed though.

I have purchased two of these lights and although they do work work well they do not last more than a couple of months and the ballast burns out. You cannot get just a replacement ballast either so you have to replace the entire unit. But it will last just past the return window.

Bought this to clear algae from a 2000 gallon pond, and it has worked very well. It took about a week to get the water clear, and since then, the water has been very clear of algae. The device itself it fairly big and heavy so it will need a strong mounting plate to prevent it from moving. The only criticism I would have is the pipe intake and exhaust connectors. It would have been nice if the kit came with a couple 'L' connectors that would fit the couplings, since the connector coupling is specific to this unit and there are no parts you can buy that would fit it. I had to use a short section of pipe and a flex hose to get the desired result, which was not easy.
