Yes! Use the shaker and flashing lights. The lights wake me up just before the shaker goes off. I'm so hard of hearing ( the reason I bought this ) that I don't hear the alarm, but everybody in the house does.

Will the shaker work effectively with a SleepNumber or other similar air mattress?

I bought this for my 16 year old son who sleeps 'like the dead'. I had SO much trouble getting him up for school and/or work. He actually doesn't put the 'shaker' part under his pillow or mattress....he lets it dangle down the nightstand. It causes suck a ruckus clanking and rattling against the night stand I can hear it from the other end of the house! It has worked for him 100%. He's up every morning, without fail. And he had a summer job that started at 7am......he wasn't late even once!

does it have two alarms?

Sadly, the one disappointment in this clock is that although there are two alarm options, they both have to be set to the same MODE. (To select the wake up mode, slide the “Alarm Mode Switch“ to your desired position: a) “BUZZ“ for sound b) “VIB“ for bed shaker c) “VIB/ BUZZ“ for both sound and bed shaker NOTE: once the wake up mode is chosen, this will apply to both alarms.) We feel that being able to have the vibrating as an initial wake up and a loud buzz as the second, would be very useful, but not possible on this model.

Is the vibrating disc connected to the clock unit? Assuming wired...but hoping wireless...

It is not wireless. Has thin wire so could be easily taped out of sight. It is pretty long too .

Nice and loud

As a sound engineer who works in very loud and bassy environments for up to 14 hours a day, I'm used to loud noise. I've always had issues hearing phone alarms. This does the trick. More than loud enough and the pillow shaker helps rouse me from a very sound sleep every time. Highly recommended for deep sleepers or for people like me who are used to loud noises.

Very useful for heavy sleepers

It works well and is very loud. The super shaker is a plus but I opt to use it without sometimes because it shakes the bed violently.
