A must have if you have a contact only burglar alarm system!
If you have an alarm system consisting of door and window contacts only you MUST get an interior motion detector. I have been in law enforcement for over thirty years and most recently began reviewing burglary reports. I hate to say it but the crooks are getting smarter and defeating many burglar alarms. The way it is done is by simply smashing the sliding door glass or any large window glass. They enter without actually opening any doors or windows because many people do not have interior motion sensors. I strongly suggest you have a sensor incorporated into your system and if you have a motion sensor make sure it is still working. I learned ours went out but we were still able to set the alarm so who knows how long we were without a sensor. I called a local reputable alarm company thinking they would have a top notch sensor. They produced this exact model and quoted a discounted rate of $125 to install it. For less than $15 I had it from Amazon in less than 2 days it easily replaced the old sensor. It works like a charm and the blue sensor light lets you know it is working and it will also get the attention on any burglar.

Better than the "name" brand
I recently repainted the room and although the 35 year old PIR was working, the plastic had yellowed so a fresh unit was in order. Purchased a name brand PIR here and it failed to work at all. Not worth the postage and effort to return it but wasn't going to be burned twice with the same model. So tried this unit which is about the same price and was well reviewed. Bosch makes good tuneup parts for my car but never heard it did alarm parts. Anyway, this one did not disappoint. Easy install. I like the fact that the circuit board is part of the front half and the terminal screws are part of the back piece. They slide together and click into place smoothly. Came right up and seems to have a good range. Hopefully the pet feature will allow me to arm the interior without the cat setting things off.

Definitely Choose this over the Cheaper Options
Definitely Choose this over the Cheaper Options:You can save about $5 by going with the cheaper Aurora, but I've got both and would definitely choose this one. It's like moving up from Ford Fiesta to a BMW 3-series. The cheaper option gets where you want to go and works well. But to change settings on the cheaper option, you have to manually connect/disconnect jumper links on the circuit board. Contrast this to the Bosch: dial indicators to turn on/off LED and to open/close. Very cool. Worth the extra $5. But, truth be told, I got the cheap one first, it works sufficiently well, and I'm too lazy to remove it, spackle & paint, and upgrade to the Bosch. I'll save the Bosch for my next project. Based on these two data-points, if I had to do it over, I'd go with the next level up from Bosch.

Great detectors
I must say, I was skeptical about these detectors at first. However, after hearing them being praised by security professionals, I decided to purchase 3 of them to replace my old Ademco Units.IMPRESSIVE. I can barely move and this unit picks it right up. Also, these don't make a clicking sound like my old ones did. The blue light looks cooler too. Installation was easy since the terminal block was built in to the base, and so is a small bubble level.I have a small dog and a cat, neither have set it off yet, when set to the pet immune setting.Overall, I'm impressed and would buy it again. They are simple to install as well, Just hook up the Red wire to the + and the black wire to the -. And the remaining 2 wires to the NC, NC terminals.
