Not easy to use, but capable of creating a very clean, large hole.You still need to wear eye protection and a mask because some dust will escape no matter how carefully you hold it.This one is more reliable and sturdy than another one I'd also bought on amazon.

Do not buy this piece of junk. First is shows on the description measurements in inches but on the adjustment bar there are only metric markings. Secondly it says it is supposed to cut through drywall. When I tried to cut holes in a ceiling for recessed lighting it would just grab into the drywall and would not cut. I tried different speeds and different drills and in the process the pilot hole bit broke. What a piece of junk!

I’m disappointed with this hole cutter. Take note, even when used properly, using these kinds of hole cutters is difficult. There’s a great deal of torque on the drill and keeping the tool square to the cutting surface is critical. With all that being said, there are some design flaws on this tool that justify my 2-star rating.On the first job I used this hole cutter, I was cutting 10.1” holes in 5/8” drywall board for some ceiling speakers. Here are some pros and cons…PROS: -Dust shield is made of decent strength plastic. I’m not sold on how good the plastic will hold up around the bearing but it’s better than some other dust shields. -The dual cutters are incredibly sharp and track well. -The case is made of nice quality plastics and everything stays secure in its place inside it.CONS: -The red rubber guard around the edge of the dust shield is not bonded in place…it pops off easily and has to be put back on. -The bearing in the dust shield lacks a dust shield allowing the cutting dust to get down in between the bearing center and the main shaft of the cutter causing it to bind and cause extremely quick wear on the shaft. -the cross bar on the cutter does not have a precision fit in the center cutter shaft…it can wobble even when tightened. -To use this tool with any level of success requires the user to hold his/her hand tightly around the cutter shaft to help stabilize it…what’s frustrating is having your hand there also causes the spring friction but to be tightened making it that much more difficult to plunge.Overall I cannot recommend this tool. The first use was to cut 11 of the mentioned 10.1” drywall holes. After doing these holes, the center shaft has a significant amazing of wear in the area where the bearing is to slide up and down meaning it’s almost completely worn out. I could put my own glue on the anti-scratch guard around the dust shield but I feel the factory should have done this. I was sadly disappointed with the overall performance of this tool as it’s not inexpensive and it’s one of the few hole cutters available that can cut holes this big.

THE CONCEPT WAS PERFECT, BUT THE DUST COVER FELL APARTBEFORE THE HOLE WAS CUT. DID NOT GET ANY HOLE COMPLETE IN MY BOATLOOKING FOR AN ALTERNATIVETHE HOLE SAW FELL APART AND ALL THE PLACES THAT WAS GLUED FELL APART
