Fantastic cutting board. I actually knew nothing about this brand and bought it purely for the aesthetics - needed something black to match the granite in my new kitchen. But wow! Holds up beautifully regardless of the punishment! No visible scratches despite my everyday cutting and chopping, heavy and durable, easy to clean. Great investment. I originally wasn't sure about the wood striped design on the side edges from the photo, but it looks quite nice on my counter. Very happy with my purchase!

I haven’t used it yet but I could not be more excited to. It is a giant cutting surface that I am finally comfortable butchering raw meats on. It is beautiful and sturdy. I can’t wait to break down my next dinner on it. Only downfall is it does not fit in my sink but I will easily trade off cleaning ease for a safe and roomy area to butcher and protect my knifes.

I got this board to replace some rather beat-up ones I had in my house...plus, I was upgrading to new knives so I wanted to have a fresh cutting board.This board is HUGE...and I love it. It is thick and when a blade hits it, it's almost absorbed...without even leaving a mark. I wouldn't recommend any other cutting board, be it wood or plastic...this epicurean looks great on your counter and my new Shun knives get along great with it.Highly recommended...would look no further if you want a great cutting board that is knife friendly!Update 3/24/2012: This board is amazing...period...I would never consider buying anything else. Period!

While I love the looks and "beefy-ness" of this block, I am having a bit of a challenge keeping some foods from soaking into the surface and leaving residue and stains (potatoes, sweet potatoes, mainly starchy or naturally sticky foods). I rubbed it very well with oil and that seems to have helped a bit. We're in a dry climate which probably contributes to the problem. Other than that, it looks awesome and because of it's heft and the rubber bumpers on the underside it doesn't move when chopping or cutting large foods such as butternut/ hubbard squash and watermelon. I absolutely love the design and the layered base.

Both cutting boards arrived promptly. But one cutting board had a scratch on its surface, the other cutting board was perfectly new. The scratch was large enough that whoever prepared the item for shipping would have seen it so they must have thought "tough luck." I decided to keep it rather than the hassle of sending it back and waiting for a replacement.
