HotHands Hand Warmers

The packages have starters to make it easy to tear open one or both pouches. I like that I can open only one if I don't need two. It takes a little bit to warm up, but then it's toasty and keeps me warm for many hours. At first, I would only use them if I knew I'd be outside for a long period of time, but now, I find them useful indoors too. I usually start by opening one or two to warm up my robe pockets on a cold morning, then I put them in my coat when I take a walk on a cold day, then I'll transfer them to a sweater pocket and eventually tuck them into a blanket I keep outside for a neighborhood cat who looks cold when the sun isn't shining. The heat lasts for a long time, and I've found it more comfortable and economical than increasing the heat for the whole house. Update 11/25/2012 After reading other reviews, I am updating mine to share that the "HOT" part of "Hot Hands" seems a bit misleading. Each person has their idea of what "hot" means. These are more hand WARMERs. They feel warmer tucked into a pocket than in my gloves, and warmer still when I fold one into my scarf, around my collar. The longer I have these in my pockets, as the hours pass, the warmer they get. Rarely would I say they feel "hot". I too have found that a cup that's just had boiling water poured into it is feels hotter, but I can't tuck that into my clothing, plus in short order a cup of hot water cools down. In this last box of warmers, which have an expiration date of 02/15/2012, I did have a couple of duds that barely got warm; and I got a couple that got unusually hot - which is likely what most people are expecting and why there is a burn hazard warning. That warning may lead us to believe that these will ALL get "hot" but from my recent experience with the HAND WARMERS, that's rarely the case. Typically, they get very "warm" in my opinion, which works very well for me. After reading more of the complains about this product, I decided to order the hand and body size. I'm curious to see if the size of the bag influences the amount of heat produced. I am still happy with the hand warmers for my use. When I am outside, I am mobile, I don't sit so my experience may be different than most.

These things are incredible! I’ve got two kids that are heavily involved in our local mountain ski racing program, so we’re in the snow from December until at least April every year, at least once a week, sometimes much more. They usually put them in their mittens or, if using gloves, in their pockets so that they can take the gloves off and warm their hands during downtime. They last all day (usually 8 hrs or more) and sometimes are still warm the next morning in the truck if they don’t make it out of their pockets and into the trash at the end of the day. They’re odorless, store for at least a year or more (I’ve found them in the closet in the package and they’ve never not worked), and the price here beats even big membership stores. I also always keep an emergency stash in my glove box in my hunting pack and in just about every backpack I have, just in case. Remember - if your kids are cold, they’re not gonna enjoy the snow, and if they’re not enjoying the snow, then neither are you. KEEP THE GROMS HAPPY AND THEY’LL SKI FOR LIFE

I originally bought these to be included as stocking stuffers last Christmas for friends who work outside. During that crazy winter storm we had in January, my power was knocked out. By the time I got home from work, around 10pm, the temperature in the house got down to 35 degrees Fahrenheit. The package says not to sleep with these. However, it was ridiculously cold, I was miserable, and I didn't know when the power was going to come back on as they kept pushing the estimated time back every few hours. So, I took 2 out of the package, shook them and put them in my bed, not touching me, but not far away. I covered up with 4 blankets and in about 15 - 20 minutes, I could feel the warmth. It lasted all night. The power came on about 7 am and the furnace came back on. I was however, nice and warm under the blankets due to these. It allowed me to get sleep. When I got up, they were still warm. It saved my night and my sanity. Because of that night, I now keep some if my vehicle with my emergency kit. I cannot say enough!

These hand warmers are really impressive. They hold heat for a long time, which makes them perfect for cold days outdoors. I've used these handwarmers before, mostly when winter camping in the high desert. I decided to look for another solution, and bought a pair of rechargeable hand warmers. Tried several brands. Performance was a mixed bag, but generally they got plenty warm when kept in a pocket, but held in the open air they often struggled to keep up with the cold. When slipped into my glove, they would, at best, give off lukewarm heat. In other words, hand warmers that would keep you warm unless it was really cold out - what's the point? Next up - refillable lighter-fluid hand warmers. These were a bit more consistent than the electronic warmers, but the 6 hour version I purchased wasn't super warm either. Biggest downside is that once you start them there is no 100% safe way to deactivate them - you're supposed to let them exhaust their fuel. And where they are very low odor, if you have one of these in your shirt pocket you will get a faint scent of lighter fluid from time to time. Strike one against electronic warmers, strike two against fluid based warmers. Back to the classics for me. They put out decent heat, work well in my gloves, and I can share if I'm camping with a group. Long lasting, and even TSA approved they say.

Bought these for an event where everyone would be outdoors in cool weather and they worked well to keep hands warm. They last at least 8 hours.

Seriously the best hand warmers. My husband would not survive without these. So hot and last for hours.

These are absolutely amazing! I work in a cold environment and would find my fingers were getting so cold it would be hard to work at times. I took a gamble and tried these hand warmers, not really thinking they would work, but I am very impressed. They are so easy to use, just give them a shake to activate, and within a minute or 2 you will be able to enjoy the warmth. The best bit is that they stay warm all day, I activate them at around 8am and I can still feel some warmth from them at 5pm. I am so glad I discovered these, and I now have all my work mates using them too.
