I gave 3 stars - 1 because all the dates were good. The second because I did receive 12 bars.I have seen these bars repeatedly in different media and thought they would make a nice addition to the beef sticks I get. Upon opening the package, which was supposed to be 12 completely different bars (sampler for approx $ 35) but it turned out to be 11 different flavors of 5 different meats. All the bars I was looking forward to the most were not in the bag - Lamb, Boar, Turkey and Salmon were 'Missing In Action'.Due to my disappointment at half the meats in the offering being 'Absent With Out Leave', I am not eating them yet as I dont want my opinion of their taste and texture to be effected by any negative feelings I am currently experiencing. Thankfully, as per their dates, I have between 5 and 10 months to get over it.They may turn out to be a 5 star product, but it lost two stars because the seller should have just not filled the order if they couldnt provide what they claim they are providing at the onset. That way I would have been able to pick what I wanted instead since I was trying them anyway. I should get a $ 5 refund because what I received was closer to their offering for approx $ 30.At any rate, if its not a taste orgy when I do try them, then this review was premature at giving a generous 3 stars.

Great Meat Bar...Still a Meat Bar
I didn't know what to expect with these bars but I gave them a shot. I am hoping that a detailed review can give other shoppers a better idea of what to expect.Taste: Epic Bars taste pretty good. I generally have to grade most nutrition/meal replacement bars on a curve because so many are so awful. I like most Quest bars, can stomach a few others, but leave most alone. I would say the Epic Bars are a great meat bar or a good healthy option for a larger snack. I don't see myself ever craving one but would eat it as part of a lunch without hesitation. Pork based ones were my favorite. Beef ones tasted a little like a jerky but with much different texture. Salmon and chicken were both dry but the flavor was good, they just required a drink with them. The flavor combinations are unique and offer more interesting flavors than most bars. For Specialty Diets: I am not on a special diet (paleo, adkins, etc) but imagine these to be great for people that are. The ingredient list is short and easily understood.Texture: The texture can be a little strange. I wouldn't say bad but if you are a person that has strong textural aversions to certain foods, these may not be for you. Chicken/Salmon were both on the dryer side and a little like a jerky that is easy to pull apart. The beef has a texture that is similar to a loosely packed hamburger patty.Fillingness (satiatedness?): Whatever the word, the bars wouldn't fully replace a meal for me. If I add it to some fresh fruit, a small salad, or other minor snack then it can get me there. If you are a health nut that eats the ideal 6 small meals a day, then this should get the job done.Overall, if you are just looking for something with amazing taste to try, this may or may not hit the spot. If you are looking a protein rich bar and the current nutritional bars aren't cutting it, these are worth a shot. If you have a special diet with a lot of restrictions, I would imagine these bars could be essential to your diet. They were good enough that I will buy more of some pork based ones to keep around and grab in a pinch.Side note - I saw previous reviews on other flavors mentioning a problem with the bars bloating. I did not have any issues with my bars. All were solidly vacuum sealed and whatever was going on that caused the bloating seems to be resolved.

Salmon fan here!
Yum! I received 11 varieties as described, I'm a little disappointed they are no longer including the pork + pineapple as I would have liked to try it but oh well. I got 2 of the beef habañero cherry walnut which I'm good with. The venison has the longest shelf life (January 2020, nearly a year) while the uncured bacon has the shortest (August 2019, or six months from now)Couldn't wait to jump in! I started with the salmon since that was the one other reviewers seemed to dislike most, I figured I'd get it out of the way. It was delicious!! The only con was that it drove my cats crazy and they were staring at me trying to get a bite. It tasted like hearty lox, I guess. I really enjoyed it and could see myself ordering more of this flavor. The other flavor I've tried so far is the sesame and BBQ chicken. It's VERY salty so you may not like it if you're not into that but I enjoyed it. I probably wouldn't order a whole box of that flavor but it wasn't bad. The taste definitely lingers. The consistency of the bars is definitely different. I like that they are soft and chewy rather than tough like jerky. It's easy to tear off small bits to kind of nibble on.Although I was a bit put off by the price, I am very pleased with these bars and will definitely be ordering them in the future. They're a great after workout alternative to tuna or boiled eggs for some easy protein.Edit: I tried the beef habañero and EWW. Quite bland and strange tasting, almost like raw bullion?I also had the turkey cranberry and didn't like that one either, it was again kind of flavorless and dry. Holding out hope on the other flavors!

AIP compliant, better than a candy bar.
I love these little meat bars! I take them on kayaking trips for a little boost in energy half way through a paddle. I also have a 4 hour job some days, and there is no time to eat. So I slowly eat one on the way home from work to get rid of the hunger. They are way better for you than a Slim Jim or those other jerkys you can buy in Truck Stops. It's a treat to stave off hunger and keep you in the game. My only gripe is that when I've ordered Epic products on Amazon, the expiration date is not that far away. One time, the whole case expired the next month! I was expecting the case to last all summer. I am finishing off the expired ones now and can tell you, the taste and texture is way better when they are fresh, than beyond the expiration date.

Flavors are duplicated or tripled
Epic bars are amazing and I have been eating them for years. This is only a review on the fact they offer a “variety”, as they do not. I received mainly chicken and beef …. Poor variety selection for the variety EPIC offers.
