It is exactly 21-1/2 inches in diameter and it fits the Weber 22-1/2" cooking bowl perfectly!

Does it have hinged sides to add more charcoal?

Is the diamater of the cooking grill 22 1/2inches ?

The grill fits 22" Weber. The grill itself measures 21 1/2 " across. I had bought it to fit in a Thermos kettle style charcoal grill, and it fit perfectly. Since that grill has since fallen apart, it is an extra for the Weber I bought.

Does it work for a grill in a state park? Do I need a bigger one?

I do not know if it will work for a grill in a state park. Bought it as replacement for my Weber charcoal grill.
