A must have book for all potterheads
As Professor Dumbledore declared in the foreword that βno wizarding household is complete without a copy of this book.β So I wasted no time and got myself a copy at Flourish and Botts! My very own duplicate of Harry Potterβs copy and I enjoyed it a lot especially Professor Dumbledoreβs foreword! You only have to read a part of his foreword to be convinced to read the book. But what I enjoyed even more were Ronβs, Harryβs and Hermioneβs scribbling on random pages of the book. Just a few samples:βHarry loves Moaning Myrtleβ (Bahaha!)βThe 1965 Ban on Experimental Breeding has made the creation of new species illegal.β ---> βbut no oneβs told Hagrid.βIβm pretty sure itβs Ron who classified ACROMANTULA with 10 Xβs. (Lol!)Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is the result of many years research and discusses at some length the definition of the word 'beast', and indeed which creatures may be categorised as beasts. Also covered is the ongoing Muggle ignorance of magical creatures. Clause 73 of the International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy is explained as reason for magical beasts being in hiding, and there is also information about how that is done. Disillusionment charms, memory charms and the Office of Misinformation all have a role to play. What then follows is an alphabetical list of fantastic beasts, all of which have been classified according to the Ministry of Magic as belonging to one of five categories:* Boring (Although Newt in the film would never describe creatures as boring which this book does, the character was fascinated by all creatures.)* Harmless and may be domesticated* A competent wizard should be able to cope with them* Dangerous and requires specialist wizard knowledge* Known wizard killer or impossible to train or domesticateThere's everything from Centaurs and Flobberworms, to Kneazles, Nifflers and Wampus Cats.Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is a book for every Harry Potter fan: read it from cover to cover, browse and learn more about the magical universe, and refer to it as you read the Harry Potter series, or watch the movies.

The most fascinating encyclopedia!
I've seen many people complaining about this book and comparing it to the other Hogwarts library books. This book received the lowest rating out of them but I don't see why? This book is an whole encyclopedia about the fantastic beats which are written by J.K. Rowling but in the accent of Newt scammander as in the movies. This book is totally different from the movie and it doesn't has a story but fascinating and exciting things to explore more in the wizarding world including dragons, nundu and many others from the Harry Potter series itself! This book is the one I've received some far in 2022. The thing that makes it more exciting and interesting are the illustraitions. J.K. Rowling has done a perfection in creating these creatures.Overall: The best encyclopedia with The Fantastic Beasts

WOW!
I love this book. It's so creative. I don't have words to describe it. What I want to say is - "GO FOR IT IF YOU'RE OR THE PERSON YOU'RE GETTING IT FOR IS A POTTERHEAD".

A Nice Little Addition to the Potter-verse
One of a couple of books Rowling wrote to benefit Comic Relief, the UK charity, this one's mentioned in the main books and is a little gem.Recommended for Potter fans!

Want to be a wizard? You need this book!
I received my beautiful copy of this book today and gosh I am so in love with it because it has 6 new beasts from J K Rowling! I have read this book in its previous version and I thoroughly loved it, but this edition is gorgeous beyond my words! The illustrations inside are beautiful as well and if you have kids or like colouring, you may as well satiate that desire of your heart!I am a digger for hardcovers and I often open the jacket to admire the naked book and guess what, the book looks beautiful when naked as well! One more noteable thing is that JK Rowling, my favorite author in the planet, is donating it's proceeds to Comic Relief and Lumos. It is for that beautiful heart of hers that she is such a successful person today. So if you wanna become a wizard and no more stay a muggle, you need this copy on your shelves.

LOVE IT!!!
Though I am a Potterhead, I wasn't allowed to buy books until recently. I have scoured markets and collected many First Editions. This is the only version of this book that I have, and let me tell you, IT IS AMAZING!!I absolutely love it. There's an extra introduction by Scamander which includes his trip in America, and the beasts are arranged in alphabetical sections, with each section having an illustration of any one beast of that section. The hardcover is sturdy and it reached me in perfect condition. I love the illustrations and the new beasts!! And let me tell you one secret - most of the book's additional beasts haven't been shown in the movie, so yes they are completely new and so creative. I also love the fact that a part of the proceedings is for charity. Thank you JKR, you're the best!!

Perfect
I needed a paperback older version cover in order to collect old covers. I was happy in this case that the image shown and the product match. Got what I needed. Although I had bought "Quidditch through the ages" paperback having original cover didn't work well as they delivered the book but a hardbound and a differnt version of the book cover. Be careful when you buy these books especially if you look to buy what is shown in the image and need that particular product as shown for your collection

Sloppy and lacking in detail
I am surprised by all the 5 star reviews for this book. I knew it was basically supposed to be the school textbook version rather than a book of the film, but felt it was so lacking in depth that it would be useless as a reference book too. The section on werewolves for example is just a single short paragraph and doesn't give any extra information than you get in the prisoner of azkaban. Also, in several places it says "see below" but there is nothing relevant written below. It feels very sloppy when compared to the level of detail put in the stories. Also, it is inconsistent with the fantastic beasts film. Newt in the film would never describe creatures as boring which this book does, the character was fascinated by all creatures.

Not a story but a skimpy catalog
This is an very short list of animals from Harry Potter with a few poor line pictures and skimpy details. It was almost certainly thrown together in a few hours, at the insistence of a publisher, to milk the franchise and it's fans for money. It certainly is not a work likely to impress many fans and does NOT enrich the HP universe, and in no way mimics what is supposed to be an impressive zoological or seminal academic text book.Trash in a nice cover. AVOID

Good, but not as good as the original
Cute little text book. I owned the original paper copy that came out for comic releif when I was a child, and that had loads of funny annotations and stuff from Harry and Ron which I did not see on this Kindle edition which was a dissapointment. That was my favourite part of the book the first time I read it.I'm also pretty sure they missed out some of the beasts! E.g. Boggarts and some others that I can't remember. Although my memory may be failing me, as I no longer have my original copy for comparison.

Good for fans!
I bought this for my son as he was mad on all the Harry Potter books and films and he had shown interest in this book.Personally, when I trawled though it, I thought it looked as dull as dishwater but my son enjoyed it. He said that he like that it was kind of like a dictionary or diary style rather than a book of the movie. If he enjoyed it, then thatβs good enough for me.Fans of HP and the movie will undoubtably enjoy this.

This is ideal for studies
I purchased the Audiobook & for me there isNothing better than having the person who played author of the book Newt from the Muggles Fantastic Beasts series of movies reading about all the creatures the author Newt Salamander had encountered over the years, its must for any Witch or Wizzard studing magical beasts!(To any muggles, it's a lovely work of fiction read by Eddie written by J.K.Rolling)
