Worst router from Netgear at this price
It been almost a year using this product and in one line I will say “Neatgear RAX40 is TRASH”. For first few months, router was running okish but then I started facing WiFi connectivity issues both on 2.4G and 5G bands. After several settings tweaks also, internet connectivity for intermittent even in the room next to router where it was kept. Netgear has proudly written dual band beamforming antennas to provide robust coverage for 2 bed apartment, but everything they are quoting is rubbish. Netgear customer support is pathetic. They keep on repeating same tweaks and setting change. Netgear is not even ready to return their product under warranty. Further, lets say the router is not supporting the required, they could uave provided an upgrade option as well but that thing is also not there from such reputed brand. NEVER BUY THIS ROUTER EVEN IF IT IS IN DISCOUNT. Don’t get fooled buy hefty discounts offered on this platform for this rubbish garbage product.

Pros 1. Router was easy to install 2. Nice quality app to track usage and other metrics 3. Wifi router covers decent area without any interruption Cons only one, would have been better if there was better coverage area for the price.

Netgear NightHawk AX Wifi6 rocks, worth the buy
I purchased this mainly for the WiFi-6. I had never spent 11K INR of money ever for a router modem but i was ok to bet due to wifi6 and i did not have to repent and it was worth the money. Most of us are fedup with so many devices getting added during our WFH or study from home in the recent past. Nice box design and device is really sleek and modern look. Device comes with a RJ45 cable that can carry 1Gbps. and a power adaptor , nothing else. The device was powered on and the uplink port connected with the ISP Modem's port. Quickly installed the NightHawk App from the play store. The App makes the life so simple that , you just have to follow the steps and it goes so easy. The App asks you to scan the QR sticker on the product and then it automatically detects the router. you need to register as well with an email id .. The setup can be completed with setting the username/pw to login to the router. I was struggling with the wifi coverage as the Modem more than 30 feet and also more turns and bends. 5GHz band does not reach so far and the speed drops, while the 2.4 GHz signal strength is decent and speed does not much. I connected the Nighthawk router to the modem thru a RJ45 cable thru the conduit pipes in the wall and it became pretty clean connection. Now it gives a nice wifi-6 coverage around far from the modem. If you have a Wifi analyzer App installed in the Mobile, you can easily see the signal strength of the Nighthawk to be standing pretty tall. the router to modem connection is still 100Mbps so i am not able to utilize the full bandwidth of Wifi-6 , though i plan to upgrade the modem to 1Gbps ports . With OFDMA this can support upto 16 devices, though i have not done a stress test. However when tried with youtube, the HD,4K videos could run uninterrupted. Here are few problems you can see with this product 1) Boot time is bit longer - At a point i was almost convinced that there is a device boot failure when the red power LED kept flashing continuously and i had to restart multiple times. I then let it go for some more time and it boots. Dont expect a normal booting time just like the other routers.. you need to be little more patient. 2. Heating problem : The box generates more heat compared to the other routers i had, but i dont have a wifi-6 router to compare with. anyway it does not hurt much, if it is wall mounted it is fine, just keep it bit better ventilated. Overall the product is worth the 11K INR money paid, i get more speed and coverage across my home..

Absolute Beast
Got this as an itch upgrade over the holidays. The router looks drop dead gorgeous like a piece of art. Looks though are subjective. To me this is super futuristic and the router is very reminiscent of kylo ren’s ship. The next generation of Wi-Fi AX works flawlessly. I have 3 AX-capable devices (iPhone 11 Pro and 2 Galaxy S10s) all of which connect to the AX band perfectly for superior speeds. With a gigabit Fiber Internet connection, hardwired to the desktop this pulls in 1gbps speeds perfectly. Niggles : Had a hard hard time setting up the router to get Open NAT on the PS4 and X1X. Turns out UPNP doesn’t quite work for opening ports requested by the two consoles. Did a factory reset and still no go. Had to eventually port forward manually and then all fell in place. The latest .70 firmware has been rock stable for me and I’ve had zero issues for the past 5 days. Turned off smart connect as well like I always do with all of these modern day routers. It never seems to do what it claims no matter which brand. At best it just load balances between the 2.4 and 5Ghz bands. Also set the channel for the 2.4Ghz manually which seems to work a lot better than left on Auto. Final thoughts : Wi-Fi AX may not be compelling as a buy if you do not have AX-clients just yet. As a router this works beautifully and does what it needs to do. I just love the bat-wing looks so that’s an added bonus. Update RAX50: Got this to setup as a wired access point for the bedroom. Setup was easier than drinking a glass of water. Have a RAX80 for the living room so this compliments the wifi6 handoff absolutely perfectly. Love the nighthawk app that allows me to manage and most importantly update fw of the routers off the phone. Solid product like always from Netgear. No hiccups no need to reboot once every few days. Works solid and works brilliantly.

RAX50 : Excellent , affordable WiFi 6
So we upgraded from an ASUS RT - AC 68U to this router and saw some immediate benefits . The range has increased quite a bit in our 1500 Sq ft apartment . This goes for both 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz bands . The devices which have wifi ax adapters benefit the most e.g. the wife's IPhone and our newer laptops which have wifi ax adapters. We see close to 300 Mbps speeds on the devices in 2 different rooms across the apartment ar distances of 20 feet and 30 feet respectively. It also acts as a great bridge between the desktop which has an AC1200 adapter and the TV which is across the apartment. It is easy to stream 4k content with no stutter/ buffering from the pc to the tv , whereas previously it would get stuck / hang . We have tested speeds on upto 6 devices simultaneously, with all devices registering close to 280 Mbps, across different distances. The best part is, it was easy to setup using the night hawk app and suffers no issues in the firmware. Overall, a great buy and wonderful value for money at the current price point from Amazon India. Highly recommended.

Real pain of a home router
Router keep losing internet connectivity for no reason. Cannot select INDIA region as it is not available in the drop down. The stupid Armor Security is another pain to deal with. Not sure why I need to log my device into ISP account to access internet from this router. Android phones that allow dynamic addresses, need to go through the whole ritual to connect to this router every-time they reconnect. Configuring the router is another pain. Unless there is a WAN connection, the router won't allow LAN and after waiting for 10 min to access the www.routerlog.net it will keep popping "No internet access" error. I don't understand why they cannot make a profile for basic use for residential customers. No need for any fancy but useless security settings to make it a pain to use. My old belkin router was charm to use, needed to upgrade to support speeds more than 100Mbps DS so went of this stupid one. Now cannot even return it, as it is past 7 days. Real pain to use, takes forever to reboot (more than Cisco ASR routers).

Disappointing Performance
1. Speed test could only reach 550 Mbps on Download and 600 Mbps on Upload on 1G Mbps fiber. Tested with WiFi 6 on iPhone and Laptop. Not so much difference vs. the ISP free router 2. Have to choose 5G wifi to get the speed. If connect to 2G, speed is around 70-80 Mbps 3. 5G connection range is not that great. 4. Overheat 5. 5G connection disappears some time and have to reboot the router
