A Huge Color Selection Without a Bunch of Duplicates
I bought this set because I wanted a big variety of gel pen colors without getting a bunch of repeats, and the 120 unique colors are the best part. There’s a really good mix of bright colors, metallics, glitter shades, and other finishes, so it’s easy to find something different for coloring, doodling, and small art projects. Most of the pens write smoothly and put down plenty of color without needing much pressure. I also like that every color is different. With some large pen sets, a lot of the count comes from duplicates, but this one actually gives you a lot of variety. The only downside is that a few pens may need a little scribbling to get the ink flowing at first, and some colors are naturally smoother than others. Overall, it’s a fun set with a ton of options, and I’d recommend it if you like having lots of different colors to choose from.

Great Quality and Value
I'm a relative newcomer to gel pens. I've been using colored pencils for so long to draw and, in recent years, color in adult coloring books, but I've come back to mandalas and it's been recommended that I try gel pens for those. Since Shuttle makes such wonderful professional colored pencils (I really can't say enough good things about their pencils), I decided this would be a good place to start. In terms of dealing with the seller, I once again had a seamless experience. The pens arrived, in perfect condition, on time (2 days). The packaging is great, with the pens in order by shade and type (pastel, glitter, metallic, etc), in 4 separate packets, held together with a stretchy cord - I don't know what else to call it - making them easy to store and keep together. Other reviews complain about difficulty starting ink flow; I didn't have that problem with any of these pens. I though I did with the white one, then I realized that I just wasn't seeing the ink on the scrap paper, the paper being white and all. I noticed it when I saw the ink smeared all over my hand. Lol? The ink flows quickly, almost too quickly for a noob like myself so I would suggest that if you're not used to gel pens you practice a little on a piece of paper until you get the hang of it. Also, I find that blotting the tip on a piece of scrap helps me control the flow. But again, I'm brand new to the medium so other, more experienced users may not have the same issue. The colors are vibrant and clear, and I haven't had any issue with them bleeding through good quality paper in a coloring book I'm using them in, nor on 160 lb card stock and heavy sketch pad paper. I would imagine they would work well on watercolor pads as well, although I can see them being streaky on that kind of paper. I haven't had any issue with streaking on the aforementioned papers, though. I read a review that stated that the colors dry to a different shade than the one that comes out of the pen; I haven't found that to necessarily be true. Ink always comes out a slightly darker shade and dries somewhat lighter, in my experience. That's also true of most paint. These pens don't dry noticeably lighter, although I haven't put down a super heavy amount of ink that would be that much darker when wet so that might be why I haven't noticed that issue. I have no idea if they blend or layer because, again, I'm a complete novice with this medium and I haven't tried to do anything other than get the ink on the paper, but they do that very well. As far as the colors, I would be happier with some darker shades, but the shades that came are exactly the ones that are advertised. I'm not too sure what the purpose is with the swirl pens; only one color comes out at a time, and I would imagine that if it DID mix, it would be kind of muddy. As it stands, the colors that come out are pretty. The pens themselves are well made. I haven't had a problem with any kind of breakage or caps falling apart. The packaging is sturdy and the pens are well made. I have no complaints whatsoever about the construction and packaging. The only thing I can see being an issue is that the ink flows so quickly that the pens will probably run out relatively fast. However, the price point makes it feasible for me to replace the set if that does happen. Not sure if that would be a problem for others, though, so I thought I should make mention. Overall, very pleased with this purchase. Again, kudos to the Shuttle Art Store.

Great color variation
This is a surprisingly good set of pens for the price. There are no color repeats, although there are some colors that look very similar. The ink flows pretty quickly for most of the pens, although the glitter ones don’t seem to flow as smoothly as the non-glitter. They dry fairly quickly, so smudging is kept at a minimum. My only complaints are that the tips that screw on to keep the ink cartridge in place were loose on almost every pen, and the colors are not labeled. Otherwise, I love how quickly I could use the pens, the color variations, and the overall quality of the ink. The pen itself feels very cheap (like the plastic BIC pens).

Nice
Most of these color pens work really well and the colors are nice and vibrant. A few of them seem like they may be dried out or not working properly, but overall, the majority of the pens color very well. I also attached a picture so you can see how they look on paper. Overall, I’m happy with the set! Just wish all of them worked.

Huge Color Variety & Great Quality
I’m really happy with this gel pen set! It arrived quickly, and all 120 colors were included with no duplicates as advertised. The colors are vibrant, write smoothly, and even show up well on colored paper. A few of the glitter pens aren't quite as smooth or as "juicy" as the standard gel pens, but that's pretty typical for glitter ink and wasn't a dealbreaker for me. Overall, this is a fantastic set with a great variety of colors, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys coloring, journaling, or crafting.

Not for those that love dark jewel tone colors...
I would technically say 3.5 stars. I received the item and I was really really excited to be able to use them. The first thing I did was sample and catalog each and every color so I would know exactly what it looked like on actual paper and mention any characteristics (glitter, multi-colored pen, whether it was scratchy, etc.) I was won over by so many glowing reviews and from a few of the sample photos made by other reviewers. It isn't a bad set, really, but it wasn't exactly what I was expecting. If you love pastels and neon colors and color changing pens (I don't actually really see the appeal of that one very much,) then this would be the set for you. However, if you like darker, richer, jewel tone colors, then you will likely be a bit disappointed as I was. The darkest green is a decent green, but I love deep forest greens (which none could be found,) rich burgundies, deep blues (it did ok on that color,) royal purples (it had one that would work,) etc. Even red was somewhat lacking (there was one, but I would have loved more options.) Mostly, there were pinks, yellows, (the wrong shades of) green, oranges, etc. The vast majority of the colors were neon, too bright, or very pastel. Out of the entire set of 120 pens, I only really liked 39 of them.. and most of those were just plain vs. glitter of the same shade. I was also rather surprised to see that there wasn't a single shade that could be a realistic skin tone. Keep that in mind if you have a coloring book that has you coloring people and you want it to look even moderately realistic. I will echo the notion that some of the pens are a bit scratchy and almost all of them were a bit loose and required tightening. Not a huge deal (on the tightening aspect anyway,) but it still shows the quality, or general lack thereof. I suppose I'm still on the hunt for a set that caters to the more darkly-inclined, as this just was not it. I figured with 120 colors that I'd be able to use at least half of them to my liking, but that was not the case at all. The reviewer that left the photo of the sheep with the multi-colored blues (and I think purples, perhaps? I'm not looking at it at the moment,) was what got me to buy it because I love that color combination so much, which is why I thought this set would have a lot of beautiful jewel tones. Sadly, those few colors are about the only beautiful ones (to me.) Bottom line: if bright colors, neons, and pastels are your thing, this is a great set. If you prefer darker and richer colors, you will be disappointed.

especially since I'd read a few poor reviews and was anxious about worst-case scenarios
These pens just arrived today, but I wanted to answer several questions that I had, especially since I'd read a few poor reviews and was anxious about worst-case scenarios. "I didn't get a full set!" and/or "My pens were only half full of ink!" I did get 120 pens - these pens come in 4 sets of 30 pens each, and at first, I counted only 28 in Set 4! ...but then I realized two had fallen down in the bag--these are the two labeled "sneaky" in the image of all 120 inks. I took a photo of all 4 sets together from the back, and as you can see, I didn't get any weird half-full pens. Also, I'm happier than I should be about the giant pink stretchy-band that held the 4 packs together. "They don't write!" and/or "I keep having to scribble to restart the ink flow" Starting with Set 1 and going in order, from left to right in each set, I scribbled a bit with each pen, as shown in the image. Keep in mind: this is the first time I used any of these pens, and each scribble starts from top left--most scribbles are two rows of scratching, all from left to right. Some pens took a bit to get going--which strikes me as normal for new pens--and a few of the pastels, especially, took quite a bit of scribbling and/or tapping to get going, as you can see. (Pastels # 3 & 5, I'm looking at you.) All in all, I'd say not perfect, but as close to it as I've come across in gel pen sets. I'm pretty sure there's 120 different colors here, but I don't think I have a very good eye for color, so judge for yourself. Be careful if you set a pen down and then intend to pick back up the same color--you should probably set the particular pen aside, if color-matching matters to you. I read another review that warned you might accidentally pick up the wrong color since so many look so similar, and I'd say that's a real risk if you aren't careful. Most pens started immediately--as fast or faster than most of the gel pens I've brought home from Office Depot--and nearly every pen kept flowing nicely once it got going. I plan to use these pens mainly for journaling, not coloring, so flow consistency is especially important to me. (I HATE when a pen poops out mid-word; don't you?) I'll update this review if this doesn't remain the case, but so far, so good. (Note: The boundary line in the image is drawn with a ultra-fine black Sharpie, not any pen from this set, and Set 3 Pen 1 is white ink--good ink flow, bad visibility with a white background.) When I bought this, I figured even if a few pens were duds, this was still a great deal--but so far, these pens are AWESOME, making them a great deal. I think a lot of the poor reviews may be from older sets. Who knows if pens sat around a while in a warehouse, or if the quality of pen has improved in the past few years, but none of the fears I had from the bad reviews have come true. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to make my journal much more colorful and sparkly than any adult should consider reasonable. (And to quote Beyonce, I ain't sorry.)
