Works well
This knife cuts bread well, but differently from other knives I've had. It's not like sharp sharp - I can't cut through a sheet of paper, and I'm not scared of it cutting my finger. If I run my finger on the blade it doesn't feel that sharp. I think it's the design, the scallops of the teeth that give it it's power. The first stroke it kind of skids a little unlike a knife with pointy serrations. But, wait for the second stroke, and it slices the loaf like butter. There are hardly any crumbs produced. I can cut a super thin slice with this thing. I love the 10" - the knife is always in contact with the bread. I was initially going to buy a more expensive Japanese bread knife but the reviews on this one were so good (and price) that I thought why not. And now I realize, all I need is this Mercer Millennia.

Most amazing knife for sourdough
I’ve really been struggling with cutting my sourdough loaves. I am so desperate I even looked into one of those clunky rotary slicers. I have several serrated bread knives already. One is super sharp, but has deep grooves and bread crust pieces fly everywhere. It’s very “rough” and can’t anything but super thick slices with this knife. The second one has very fine teeth and the bread gets very squished when I cut because it can’t get through the crust. I googled “best sourdough knives” and they were recommending these $200 Japanese knives - no way I was spending that! I asked a friend and she recommended this knife on Amazon. I figured why not try it. OH. MY GOODNESS! Absolutely night and day. Slices through even my crustiest loafs like butter. Thin slices, no problem. And no mess!! It must be the shape of the teeth on the blade, I have no idea, but it’s amazing. (Third picture). Get this you will not be disappointed! I’m absolutely floored!

Great bread knife at an amazing price!
This is a great bread knife. I followed the recommendations of America’s Test Kitchen (ATK) to buy this, and have not been disappointed at all. In the ATK bread knife comparison, this was not only chosen as number one, but was the least expensive knife. I cut a large sourdough boule (big ground loaf) with both my Henkels bread knife and this new knife, and there was no comparison. This knife cut through the loaf so easily. The other bread knife required quite a bit of strong arming. The fact that this knife is a little bit longer than a regular bread knife, appears to have the perfect number of scallops in the blade, and has an offset handle, makes a huge difference.

Best bread knife ever and so reasonable
Best bread knife ever and what a price! Cuts through crusts perfectly. My family and I like it way better than the much more expensive bread knives the this brand replaces Great to use when I make crackers as you need such thin slices.
