I needed a valet that had trays and a hanger. This was one of the few models that had both, in addition to extra hidden trays and a drawer under the seat. The only thing it didn't have was a basic bar to hang your pants. I suppose you could use one of the slats in the seat back, but that's not what they were designed to do. Everything went together well during assembly, but I was surprised to see just how many parts there were that needed to be put together. Instructions were good enough to follow and so assembly was easier than you'd expect. If you've ever put together another Ready-to-Assemble product, this chair will not be a challenge. For those people who have not done that before and don't know which end of the screwdriver to hold, you might want to get a friend to help you, or just don't buy this chair in favor of another, simpler model. Color and materials are good, and the chair seat is cushioned. Don't expect the seat pad to feel good under you for more than a minute or so. The drawer is a handy feature, and they've designed it with a stop so you won't end up pulling the drawer out too far. The extra, hidden trays actually pivot out for use. I was a little confused by the instruction sheet as to how these were supposed to work, but I played with them enough to finally figure it out. You could assemble them incorrectly, but then you'd figure that out pretty quickly before you've gotten too far. The assembled chair feels solid and the fit and finish is better than you'd expect when compared to what you've paid for it.

10/12/2019The Proman VL16654 valet chair arrived about a week ahead of schedule. Assembly took about two hours, and I had fun doing it. All the parts were there. All the holes lined up. The material quality is quite good, better than expected.The only problems I had were: (1) One of the 1" wood screws snapped in half while screwing it in, and (2) There is JUST BARELY enough glue provided. If you buy one of these valets, do yourself a favor and buy a little bottle of "Elmer's" along with it! I think the screw that broke was defective, but if you run into a stubborn screw, put a little paraffin on the threads. That makes 'em go in a little easier.Other than these two very minor gripes, I'm very happy with this "silent butler". It looks nice (wife-approved!) and it is sturdy enough to support my 230 pounds. The height of the seat is just right for tying my shoes. The little drawer is a handy place to store my shoe-shine kit. I like the design and I'm perfectly happy with my purchase. I think it was a bargain. Please consider this a sincere recommendation.--"Monty"

Well designed and *mostly* logically packaged. There were bags of bags of hardware components and a couple of screws didn’t match up with their respective step-by-step-by-bag companions....but a little deduction revealed all items were present and accounted for, even if in the “wrong” bag relative to the accompanying pieces of hardware may have led to a hasty conclusion. Bottom line: assess all items before drawing undue conclusions, this thing took nothing more than patience and a Phillips’ head screwdriver to build. The finish on the wood rich & smooth and the pre-upholstered bit for sitting was comfortable but clearly not for lounging...Which just right! I mean let’s face it; the only reason one would spend longer sitting on this thing is because you’re fielding tense topic while preparing or disrobing from the day...just do you business and move along to a couch or something...this isn’t and should not be understood as a “sitting chair”...it’s a working space. The “hidden” compartments were a little more obvious than I expected but the magnetic closure that was pre-fabricated was a welcome bonus! I chose to buy this after my long distance girlfriend upgraded to live-in girlfriend, due to the covid-19 chaos, managed to provide fair critique of my existing “clothes chair” as tacky. c’est la vie. If you are on the fence about this and want to class up your daily rhythm with a more attuned instrument for your next days’ clothes and your EDC (every day carry) items, then give this thing some serious consideration. Smooth surfaces, it will be as solid as you are at driving in screws, and just as handsome as pictured, I expect many years faithful valet service from this little guy.

I bought this chair for my husband. It was a bit cumbersome for him to assemble. The seat mostly was difficult because the screws were not aligning easily. Most importantly both front corners of seat arrived with a slight tear. I've been trying for over an hour to reach someone for a replacement seat. Has been very frustrating. It's a great looking valet chair but I'm saddened that this was my husband's birthday gift and it's been a headache already. 🥺

Was not supplied all materials to construct this chair, missing 2 screws. Also pre- drilled holes for the attachment of seat cushion were off. Instructions were minimal at best, for someone not mechanically inclined, I could see problems for them. The chair is sturdy but a number of procedures could be improved. I would look elsewhere if purchasing a similar item.

Be sure to read the instructions CAREFULLY before starting to assemble the chair. Pay close attention to inserting the drawer and then placing the dowel stoppers. Parts fit well, no "field modifications" were necessaryChair is sturdy, I weigh 270 lbs so if it holds my fat ass it should be good for just about anyone

I bought this valet chair for my husband. I had bought one for our walk in closet and I adopted it before he had a chance :). Now we both have our own chairs and we love them! It helps keep our closet and bedroom organized. We love the quality, and they look great! Can't beat the price!
