The blade was nice and sharp. But it didn't stay together when using it. I had to install a nut and bolt.

I was looking for a long handled blade to cut weeds - specifically thistles - at ground level, and thought this looked ideal. And it really WAS ideal for that job.For 10 minutes.But 10 minutes into pretty light weight work, the extension of the handle just... came out of the rest of the handle, leaving me with one half-sized tool, and one useless piece of aluminum pipe. The pieces would not fit back together - not and stay, that is. I could easily fit the broken part back into the part with the blade on it, but there was no longer anything to KEEP those two parts together. So after 10 minutes of work, I had a SHORT handled tool to cut weeds, which defeated the entire purpose of getting the long handled tool in the first place.The blade was nice and robust and quite sharp, so it did a great job actually cutting the weeds I was working on. It's just that to accomplish any more of that, I have to stoop down now. I will probably try and get a wooden handle to stick into and anchor onto the useful half of this tool later... but I shouldn't have HAD to do anything to it to keep it useful.All in all, in the 10 minutes it was intact? It was GREAT! I LOVED it!But spending that much for 10 minutes of useful life was.... yeah, pretty disappointing.

It does tend to get loose while whacking the weeds, because the screw down tightener on the extension handle keeps loosening and you have to keep tightening it.

Worked easily on smaller weeds,but not for big ones. Seems a little flimsy but held up for what I wanted. Not for kids - is sharp. Still going strong. Didn't twist on me like some reviewers mentioned.

The good part: the blade is very sharp and is able to cut weeds no problem. The bad part: the handle (pole) is weak. The extension section keeps coming loose. The grip on the end pulls off. In order to continue to use it, I'll epoxy them together. It is highly likely you can find a much better sickle than this.

Its very useful for weeding and lightweight. My only complaint is that the telescoping feature doesn't stay tight and the rod unexpectedly collapses during use

Japanese garden tool quality and design. Stainless steel construction stays sharper longer than carbon steel. Extendable reach conveniently reduces kneeling and very helpful getting under low bushes especially plants with vicious thorns; e.g. barberry.Easy to extend then twist to tighten. However, with mine, after a few uses the telescoping locking features comes unlocked. Hence will need to drill hole through both rods and carry bolt with butterfly nut.

Too lightweight to cut weeds over 3ft tall! Will bend and kink the aluminum shaft if used like a true sickle! Don’t waste your $ on this lightweight, flimsy aluminum apparatus if you’re want to use it as a swinging sickle!! Cheap!! cheap!

I purchased the sickle because I had back problems and couldn't bend down to cut down my plants for winter. I didn't expect to have to sharpen the sickle after little use. i am cutting down hosta, lilies, grass type plants. It would be an asset if it would stay sharp.
