Product Description Say good-bye to mouse pads and imprecise mice. The Microsoft Blue Optical Mouse uses an optical sensor to scan the desktop, offering precise movement time after time. Great design lets it work comfortably with either hand. Dresses up your desk with its blue and silver design with cool red optical glow. Works with your Macintosh or Microsoft Windows-based PC. .com The Microsoft Optical Mouse Blue is a well-designed, stylish, and efficient mouse that makes a worthy addition to any desktop. This mouse is shaped for ambidextrous use, fitting comfortably in either hand. It features two buttons and a central scroll wheel, and its silver and blue two-tone finish is complemented by the signature red glow characteristic of the Microsoft optical family. The mouse connects via USB, though a PS/2 converter is also supplied. The package comes with IntelliPoint 4.1 software, which is straightforward to install. It works with Windows 98 and all later versions of Windows, and is also compatible with Mac OS 8.6, 9x, and 10.1. Unlike traditional mice, the Microsoft Optical Mouse Blue doesn't contain a ball, but instead uses a high-intensity LED and optical sensor to detect movement. This negates the need for regular cleaning, as with a mouse ball, and also provides greater precision. During testing, the Microsoft Optical Mouse Blue performed well. It's comfortable to use, and precise. The buttons and wheel are responsive and accurate. Combine this with its durable construction, and you have a mouse that is well worth the investment. --Jason Weston, .co.uk

My Favorite Mouse
Picking a computer mouse is very much a matter of opinion, and I like mid-sized Microsoft mice that don't have a bunch of extra buttons for me to press on accident. As a gamer and technician, I'm picky about what mouse I want for my computers. I move the pointer across my screen with expectations of perfect speed and precision, and if anything is off slightly, it could get my character killed in-game, or it could screw up an edit I made to a video, or it could just annoy me, etc, etc. This product is the embodiment of what I like in a mouse:- It's nicely shaped for both right and left hands;- It's lightweight and easy to move quickly;- It has a cord (because I can feel the latency in wireless mice);- It's precise;- It has a wheel that's easy to scroll/click, but not loose enough to where you scroll/click it on accident;- It can take a beating from rapid, hard, and constant gaming clicking over 6 years, and the only thing that'll happen is the buttons will start to require more pressure;- It just happens to be a shade of blue that I find appealing. The only problem is that this mouse seems to be increasingly difficult to find at a low price. I certainly recommend this to anyone, casual users and gamers alike. It's a good quality item, and it lasts the extra mile.

Solid no-frills product
It's a standard USB optical mouse. It has two buttons and a scroll wheel that can be set as the third button. This mouse from Microsoft is good looking and sturdy; better than Microsoft's other low-end mouse products that I have used. It has no special features. It's just a great mouse with a comfortable shape and weight. The scroll wheel turns smoothly with mild "clicks"; it feels about right. It works fine on a Mac without additional software. However, you can install Microsoft's System Preferences panel to customize the button and scroll wheel functions. I also use a KVM to switch to a Linux (Ubuntu distro) machine, and this mouse works as expected there as well with no additional software. At $14, I bought it to get my total Amazon purchase over $25 (for free shipping). Now it's the mouse I use regularly and I think it will last for many years.

Great mouse with good tactile feedback
I bought one of these mice back in 2002, and it lasted about 12 years. Recently, one of the buttons started to fail, and I was thrilled to find the same model mouse here for sale. The ergonomics are very comfortable and it has a decent left/right click. It also has a scrollwheel click which will open a webpage in new tab, etc.One of the other things I like is that the scroll wheel has discrete "clicks" throughout its revolution. A number of more modern mice have an open scroll that doesn't "land" on any particular spot. The wheel in this mouse is very soft/easy to scroll, and it does not make audible noise, but it has tactile feedback to let you know if you're scrolling say 1, 2 or XX ticks down. Many modern mice do not have that tactile feedback which is one reason I'm such of fan of this particular model.

Nice product for price
I've been using this mouse for a month now and it's working perfectly. You really can't go wrong if you're in need of a replacement and on a budget. Connects easily via either USB or PS/2 ports, cord is plenty long, pointer experiences no halting or freezing. The installation disc isn't really necessary (most, if not all, modern PC's will allow you to simply change mice without additional procedures being required) but it's not a resource hog, either. If you choose to use the installation cd, it will provide you with a quick way (via desktop icon) to access mouse control panel and program each of the 3 buttons to your choosing, which is nice for the scroll wheel in particular. This is a nice product.

Excellent mouse for the right price!
This mouse is so handy!I use it with my laptop since the wireless mouse I had purchased stopped working 2 days after it's 3 month warranty was up and I love it.The cord is long enough to not get in the way, the design is very comfortable and looks good. It's also so sensitive that I use the sofa quite often to move the mouse around and it always receives. This is a great little mouse especially for the money!

Touchy wheel button, otherwise good mouse
I used one of these mice at work for a few years and it was a sturdy and reliable performer. When the mouse that came with my computer bit the dust after only four months' use, I didn't hesitate to buy another one for home. I do have a complaint with this one, however: The wheel button is too easily clicked, making scrolling with the wheel challenging. I'm learning to use a light touch on the scroll wheel.

Very nice
Mine has taken a lot of abuse, after being dropped on concrete several times and banged into tables more times than I can count the mouse wheel started acting up a little, every now and then it will scroll down one notch, it's not really a problem even in most games, and I am amazed that it still works. Aside from being quite durable, it's a simple, comfortable, affordable mouse that works very well.
