Air Awakens: The Complete Series

This is quite an omnibus. I read it all quite quickly and eagerly but with a good deal of frustration. There is merit in the story in many places and I was interested, but there is so much that spoils it.The good: World building and history is interesting, magic model is convincing, a good breadth of characters and well paced. Descriptions are patchy but on the whole well done.The bad: Clumsy, naive and thoughtless dialogue and behaviour in the characters. The prose is poor, almost as if it's a teen or english-as-a-foreign language writer; in places the grammar is just wrong. Spiteful and petty key figures (not the kind you'd expect to garner loyalty, effective armies, build enduring kingdoms or keep bodies of government running well!) Descriptions of fighting are the one area of descriptive writing that is particularly disappointing, abbreviated and unreal.I got the feel all the way through that the author has not lived. A deeper human understanding was missing. The characterisation was superficial; perhaps derived from stereotypes. I thought a romance angle was too desparately sought, overstretched and overdepended on; in some places simplistic, in others overcomplicated?The military structures are chaotic where explored at all. Often a key issue was trivialised beside an incidental one where the distraction could be dizzyingly inappropriate. Heroes casually assassinated or punished by the emperor and no interest in investigated confirmed traitors. All the more frustrating because there are glimpses of intelligence and interesting angles left unexploited here and there all through the books.If you read the greats: Bujold, Modesitt, Weber, Hobb, Moon, Drake, Flint, Banks, Douglas, Stross, McCaffrey; you will see the difference right away.OK, there's something there but it is not an investment in literature of the genre that anyone'll keep.

OMG what an amazing story not my normal type of read but I needed something different and this is what I found highly recommend this box set . I found these to be an emotional roller coaster. I shed many years reading this box set. It tells a story of Love and all it has to over come. Also is show no matter where we come from in love of you believe in something so strongly you will fight for it. But is Also so how social standing can be looked upon with the rich thinking they are better than poor not realising if it wasn't for the lower level of standing there would not be a higher standard

Well honesy I devoured the series in 2 days, I could not work, eat, sleep or study peacefully.ELISE KOVA you are a sorceress with your mastery of literature!The series is full of growth, pain, loss, love, passion and heartbreak. The not in my throat bobs constantly when I relieve the series!

WOW! The perfect story telling skill of this author is phenomenal. I was entranced, emotionally swept and completely held by this entire series.I haven’t read a series like this since Diana Gabaldons’ Outlander series and Angie Sages’ Septimus Heap.The series goes through and grows through real human emotions and experiences, with the characters- who feel like real people- battles and growth.A must read!

Please please please read this series of books. It grabs you with both hands and pulls you in. I literally couldn't stop reading and read all 5 books in a matter of weeks. I didn't want it to end.

Loved it! I haven't found a series like this since Septimas Heap by Angie Sage with quite a bit of world building and character building. Interesting magic, an amazing plot and good characters what more could you ask for? You should definitely read this and if you love it to check out the series Red Queen.

WOW, I'm nearly at the end of this Complete Series and it has been a thrilling ride. Every chance I get I read whatever pages I could. I'm nearly at the end so I have purchased another book from the Author. Kept me totally entertained.
