If an Irish person said to you, โGimmie that yoke,โ would you think they were talking about an egg? If so, 99% of the time, youโd be wrong. How about banjaxed, bockety or craic? Any idea what they mean? The Little Book of Irishisms is for anyone who wants to understand the Irish, not just how we speak English, but how we are as people, relaxed about some things, picky about others. Itโs also for those who'd like to sound Irish, even just for St. Patrickโs Day. An ambitious goal. But why not โgive it a lash for the craic?โ In this little book, youโll learn handy tricks to Irishify your sentences โ and how to avoid those clangers that people think we say but never actually do, like the classic, โTop of the morning to you.โ Youโll even achieve the impossible and discover how to pronounce Irish names โ like Clodagh, Tadhgh or Caoilfhinn. Call it a public service. If youโre coming to Ireland and want to fit right in, this bookโs for you. If you canโt make it to our little nation, hereโs a way of visiting in spirit. โGo on, go on, go on. You will, you will, you will,โ to quote the infamous Irish comedy, Father Ted . Maybe the best thing about The Little Book of Irishisms - and we've only learned this by reading the reviews - is that it reminds us of the Irish people we love but can't be with. The Little Book of Irishisms is the perfect gift for anyone who enjoys being part of the Irish community. Review: Would recommend - Very clever. Great gift item! Review: Fun book - Fun book for St. Patrick day!

Very entertaining and informative!
A fun book filled with all one needs to know to get along in the old country. What I found most interesting is how many of the sayings that I heard from out of the mouths of my relatives over the years came from Ireland! Is's a great find. Although the book is small and can be carried around very easily, I did find that having a bit larger print would have been helpful

Fun read, fair bit of common Irish words already used English. But for non English probably useful. My e book broke after pg 60. Got it discounted so not fussed but could happen to others, check your last pages before the return windows closes
