Q: is the popcorn popper made in the USA using all USA materials and labor?

To the people who couldnt care less where it was made.............the workers in China do not have the same standard of living we have here and are do not have the same working conditions we have here so they are paid less than our USA counterparts, putting people here in YOUR country out of work! Your taxes pay for unemployment benefits for these unemployed workers..........so your not saving any money. Buy American and stop worrying about your hard earned dollar. Or OUR standard of living will fall too.

Q: does anyone have a great recipe for kettle corn that works on this Great Northern popper?

I just made kettle corn with my Great Northern popper last week using the following recipe and it turned out fantastic; without the burning that many people complain about. 2 Tablespoons regular olive oil or vegetable oil, 1 Tablespoon unsalted butter, 1/2 cup corn kernels, 1 teaspoon kosher salt, 1/3 cup sugar. Heat the oil, butter, salt and sugar over medium heat till hot then add the corn. When the kernels start to pop start turning the handle and continue until the popping stops. Pour into a large bowl and break up any large clumps. Be careful because the corn will remain very hot because of the sugar. Enjoy!

Q: Is the pot stainless steel or just the stirrer

With all due respect to other reviewers, and a half-century in engineering, this popper is 99% "stainless steel". The handle and crank knob are wood, the two gears are zinc casting alloy, and the four rivets and pin (opposite the crank) are aluminum. That's why it's not 100%. I'll also add that "stainless", "surgical", "food", "aircraft", etc. grade steels and/or aluminum, are only advertising terms, not technical terms (although even engineers are known to use them). Another point is that "stainless" steels are actually called Corrosion Resistant Steels (CRES), and they can and do rust, making the term "stainless" totally inaccurate.

Q: I have a glass cooktop. Tried different heat settings & popcorn but still have lots of us popped kernels. Any suggestions??

I have found that a recipe of 50gms Orville Redenbacher popcorn + 10gms Olive oil on med heat (#6 on my glass top) and seasoned salt to taste before popping - works every time. I add popcorn and oil to cool pan and stir constantly once I hear the first kernel pop. I think it is necessary to buy quality popcorn for all to pop.

It is a very good product does what it says

It is a very good product does what it says, but I am a bit disappointed.I ordered it seeing it was stainless steel as I would like to have used with an induction stove but it is NOT INDUCTION FRIENDLY.Agreed it is made of stainless steel, but it is pure stainless steel,that ought to be good & it is very good but unfortunately not for an induction stove, apparently for stainless steel to be induction friendly it has to have some iron or steel or any ferrous metal in the composition of the final material.My fault I ought to have asked the seller before I bought it but he was kind enough to refund me 10 % of my money back.That is the reason I am giving it a three star rating.Beji deboo
