Cheaply made.. surgical steel?
I've bought one of these before and only stopped wearing it because the ball that holds it on fell off while I was working out. This time not only did I eventually lose the ball again but it completely changed colors on me and irritated my belly where the dangling piece laid. This is definitely plated, definitely cheaply made

As soon as I got it and put it on, the little tree fell off and so did the ring that holds it so I can't put it back together. Pretty cheaply made.
