Cuisinart ICE-RFB 1-1/2-Quart Additional Freezer Bowl, Fits ICE-20/21 Ice Cream Maker, Silver

I did a lot of research before buying an ice cream maker. This is the only ice cream maker that every single reviewer listed as being the best besides an Italian $750 model. I have made over 20 batches of ice cream, gelato, Italian ice and other frozen treats with it. This is simply the best. I have experienced no problems with this ice cream maker. The product comes out frozen every time, the mix ins get added perfectly, it does not jam, it does not overheat. It is easy to clean. Some tips to maximize your performance: Freeze the tub for the recommended 14 hours. Stick it in the back of the freezer where it is coolest. Make sure your cream mixture is COLD when you add it in. I usually toss my mixture in the fridge for at least 3 hours before mixing it in the maker. You can also make it even colder by chilling it in the freezer for an additional 30 mins before adding it to the maker. Do not wash the ice cream maker tub right after making ice cream. The coolant inside the tub is still pretty frozen and you do not want to crack it. Buy an extra ice cream maker tub and ice cream containers. If you want to make a larger batch an extra tub helps and I'd you want your ice cream to stay soft in the freezer a double insulated ice cream container is a must. Other than that, highly recommend. So simple to use, I can't believe all those reviews were right. Highly recommend.

The original freezer bowl that came with the ICE-21 turned out to have a slow leak in it from the way it was haphazardly shipped in its display box, and it never stayed cold long enough to make even soft serve ice cream - even after days in the freezer - and only figured it out what the cause was from google. As the seller, Ta*** wouldn’t allow a return or exchange, contrary to listing, we were stuck with it. Then Amazon decided to lower the cost of the replacement freezer bowl, to less than buying a whole new machine, and within a day we were making edible ice cream. This one freezes quickly, stays frozen for quite awhile after making and removing the ice cream - which at first made it difficult yet funny to clean as the water froze while hand washing it, but we eventually figured it out. Can’t say it’s better than store bought, and not as stiff, but is bargain priced and still delicious - plus sparks fun debates as to what we should try adding to make it different each time, and as a plus, because this new one freezes so fast, we’ve even been able to double up with 2 batches when company wants to try it out.

I have a Cuisinart ice cream machine but the bowl was missing. This bowl replaced it very well. It's easy to use, easy to clean, and best of all, no melting ice or rock salt.

Super easy instructions. Suggests you refrigerate mixture 2 hours, but it only takes 1 hour. Chocolate recipe is super chocolate so you may want to back off the amount of cocoa powder. Adding Almonds cut in half is great. The Vanilla recipe is wonderful.

Love this ice cream maker and bowl. This is the 3rd bowl I have needed for my ice cream maker in probably 11years (give or take). These bowls will work really well and then one day they say to themselves “i’m Retiring and i will no longer freeze”. I wish I knew why they stopped freezing, but it happens. Replacing every 4 years or so isn’t awful though. I consider this bowl a convenience. Yes, I could do an ice cream maker that requires ice cubes, but then I have to go out of my way to buy ice and rock salt. With this bowl, it just lives in my freezer and I can make ice cream whenever I please. I make a lot of ice cream in the summertime, too. I will continue to buy until a better product comes out.

I really don't have anything bad to say, only that I wish that I had known what to expect the first few times that I made ice cream with the Cuisinart ICE 21 Ice cream maker. The instructions were not as helpful as I would have like. There are two things that I would encourage new users to understand. First, some recipes tell you to pour the ice cream mixture into the freezer bowl and then put the freezer bowl on the motor base and put the top on and start it. I would probably encourage ice cream chef's to get a wide mouth funnel and put everything together and start the motor turning and then pour the mixture into the freezer bowl via the wide mouth funnel. This works better than pouring it in and then assembling the mixing environment. The first few times I used it I had problems with the mixture freezer so hard to the wall of the freezer bowl so quickly that the motor wasn't strong enough to churn the mixture more that a couple of turns. The other thing is that the recipe that I used called for the mixture to be kept in the refrigerator for between 4-8 hours. Again this probably contributed to the freezing up after two to three turns of the motor. Other than this particular issue of the mixture freezing too quickly, it is amazingly simple, easy to use and inexpensive compared to the 500% cost of a unit with a compressor. Loving the small batches of wonderfully tasty and totally Ketogenic ice cream I get that works perfect for satisfying my craving for the truly celestial/essential food of ice cream.

This is a favorite item of mine! I found numerous different ice cream recipes and making them has been fun and delicious!! I love ice cream, so it's nice being able to customize my favorite flavors rather than buy the same old kinds from the store. I made a peanut butter and banana flavor, a cookie dough and marshmallow flavor, a peanut butter Oreo flavor, and many other mixes! The quality comes out very nice. The ice cream gets frozen solid at the edges so I have to let it sit out for a little bit until I can transfer it to a regular container to place back in the freezer. If you like to mix up fun new flavors then this is a fun product you should try!

Doesn't take up a lot of space in the freezer, freezes the ice cream base quickly in 15-20 min. Easy to clean. Perfect for when you need to churn multiple batches of a large recipe or want to have several quarts available (same flavor or otherwise) in a shorter period of time.
