Inspiring and helpful
Diane Wright's obvious love of her subjects and her art make this an inspiring read. I found it stimulated me to think about new ways of looking at things and to re-examine my techniques. I enjoyed being taken behind the scenes as it were to see her putting a picture together.I believe anyone interested in drawing, whatever their skill level, could gain something from this short affordable book.

Great For The Pencil
There is not many books out there on Landscape Pencil Drawing, that come close to this, which I have read any way, She show the techniques well and takes you stage by stage through the process of a particular subject, an example clouds and sky's. well worth a read this book I am new to art and this book has taken me much further in the field.

Learn by examples.
I like this book because the style presented is exactly what I aim to learn. The author shows in many different actual drawings, the step-by-step process to 'build' the drawings. I prefer learning by examples rather than reading about the drawing techniques in an isolated way. Like two reviewers already mentioned, the resolutions of the figures are not enough, which is too bad, otherwise I would give it a 5-star.

Too Small to be of use!
It is clear that the artist is gifted and that descriptions of the tools and paper used are valuable, but the drawings are mainly tiny. I did try using a magnifying glass, but the reproduction loses the pencil strokes. If the book was of a sensible size it would actually be of use to the reader for learning to draw landscapes. Having read the other reviews I wonder if they are talking about an earlier version which was in a larger format?

Inspiring
Along with Diane's web site tutorials, her book is a great review and more. Retired with a disability I turned to oil painting as part of my pass time. Trying to improve that skill I realized I needed to become better at drawing. Then I discovered Diane and was amazed at her work. What has really intrigued me is how three dimensional her work is, made with subtle changes in values using pencil. One of the things I like most about Diane's book is how she explains the step by step process of achieving very believable landscapes.

Excellent Reference
If there is any great subject to be drawn, landscapes are certainly great choices. Just look around, pick one that really makes you happy, and put it right down on paper! Ideas are really everywhere; you only have to look to see them.
