I liked this makeup, but the shade i used was too chalky/pinky for my olive skin. i need more yellow. suggestions? thanks!

I have light-to-medium skin with warm/gold undertones and Buff Beige was perfect for me. It sounds like you got a shade that was too light and also too cool (pink/rosy undertone). I used the "findation" website tool and based off a couple different foundations I already use, it suggested Buff Beige and it was perfect. So you could try that website. Or otherwise do a web search for which shades are for warm undertones skin. Usually descriptors like "Creamy", "Ivory" "tan" or "fawn" tend to lean more cool (pink), while words like "honey", "golden", "beige" tend to be more warm. And then usually "Natural", "nude", or "Buff" tend to be mostly neutral. So "Buff Beige" is a neutral with a bit of warmth. But it sounds like your skin could be darker than mine. So I would look at the medium shades and go for one of the warm ones, like perhaps Warm Beige or Soft Honey? It's hard to tell without a picture. I hope that helps in some way!

How do I get the makeup to come through the holes.

I was able to open the part where the sponge is, but can't figure out how to open the top part. It does have holes in it, and turned it upside down, but nothing comes out.

Surprised at how nice this was! Nice coverage, ok for very dry skin. Not glossy, leaves a satin finish. Build able with sponge or brush. Little bit of spf is good. Not enough for a full day out in the sun. (You'd be cakey at the amount you'd have to wear) classic ivory was perfect for me
