Question 1

Hello i’m a photographer looking into a color accurate 4k monitor. is the 95% dci-p3 good for photo editing? or should I look for another option?

Accepted Answer

In short, yes. Unless you want to hunt for a $1000+ display with 100% adobeRGB or spend around $6000 for a 98% P3 display, 95% P3 is about the widest color space you can find and is good for editing, especially if your photos will mostly be viewed online. But if you need to do a lot of printing then get an Adobe RGB monitor

Question 2

27un880-b vs 27up850-w ???

Accepted Answer

The "W" at the end of the model number for the LG 27” IPS 4K UHD VESA HDR400 USB-C Monitor, Model # 27UP850-W indicates that it has a white case and the "P" in the model number identifies it as a 2021 model. The "B" at the end of the model number for the LG 27” IPS 4K UHD VESA HDR400 USB-C Monitor, Model # 27UN880-B indicates the case is black and the "N" in the model number identifies it as a 2020 model. The "880" series monitors (i.e 27UN880-B) come with an Ergo stand versus the stand for Model # 27UP850-W which is an Arcline stand. The 27UN880-B is not a VESA Certified DisplayHDR™ and it has a brightness of 350 cd/m² and it supports HDR10. The 27UP850-W is a VESA Certified DisplayHDR™ 400 monitor, meaning the display is HDR compatible at 400 nits. In short, HDR10 and HDR 400 are the same, except HDR 400 mentions the level of brightness on the display. The 27UP850-W covers 95% of the DCI-P3 (CIE1976) Color Gamut and as a result, it has a Wide Color Gamut. The 27UN880-B covers 99% (CIE1931) of the sRGB Color Gamut. The 27UP850-W has a Contrast Ratio of 1200:1 and the 27UN880-B has a Contrast Ratio of 1000:1.
