YOCTOSUN Head Mount Magnifier with 2 Led Professional Jeweler's Loupe Light Bracket and Headband are Interchangeable

I needed these, and well I really wanted something like this as the eyes are over worked and open too many hours a day working which means starting at monitors and laptop screens. So when I am not and trying to repair, fix or troubleshoot some electronic item or read a manual I found I was using a magnifying glass more and more which is a PITA as that requires one of your two hands. Then add balancing a small flashlight, a screwdriver or similar tool and don't forget the part itself....well you get the ideal. As always I was skeptical that the price was too good to be true and I would probably end up tossing them or breaking them quickly since they must be cheaply made. Well I happy to say I have not done either and every time I pull them out to use I get a slight grin as I really feel like I got away with one here at this price. Its a little guilt like I stole them but i think its more pride and joy that I feel like I didn't get robbed after a purchase. So besides all that they work. They do what they are designed to do. They are very flexible, meaning the adjustments you can make to the lens angle by tilting them up and down and forward and back as needed to best get them between your eyes and the item you are trying view is amazing. The light is very bright and easy to use and find while they are on. The process for mounting/removing/swapping the lenses is as simple as it gets and it comes with 5 different magnification level lenses that are stored in a hard case to protect them when not in use. I also find it works great with keeping me from just laying a lens down on the desk where it would probably get buried under papers or sticky notes or worse scratched and then be useless. These are comfortable to wear but I do notice after some extended periods of wearing them, and I am talking probably longer then I should, the bridge of my nose will start to feel it especially if i have the thicker lens in and batteries for the light. Again that is more on me then this product as I have had them on longer then I should if I asked an eye doctor. So I highly recommend these as I have already to others that I see squinting while tinkering or reaching for a magnifying glass to help them see or read something too tiny with the naked eye, you wont be disappointed. ( I hope).

I am a seed bead weaver and I work with tiny, tiny beads. During the last 10 years the beads holes have gotten harder to see, needle threading is a challenge and working with dark colored beads and thread is almost impossible. I upgraded my lighting, I added stand magnifiers and started the hunt for magnifiers I could wear with my glasses so I could keep beading without shuffling between pairs of magnifier glasses or using the flip up welding style of head mount magnifier which gave me a headache and didn't give me a wide area view. Then, I found this magnifier... I have used the Yoctosun Magnifier for several days for 1 - 2 hours at a time 3 or 4 times a day since I received it 4 days ago. I don't use the LED light a help because I have a full Jewelers light set up for my seed beading. Pros: Unit is fairly comfortable and stays in place when worn with any of my prescription glasses. The nose piece works fine for me. The 5 sizes magnifiers come in a case and are easy to change out. It provides me with a large viewing area. The magnifier can be positioned at an angle or flipped out of the way if needed. I haven't gotten a headache wearing the headband like I do with the older flip up welder style. Colors view true through the magnifiers. Cons: The unit is a bit heavy to use with the equipped stems. (I switched over to the headband provided in the set) The weight of unit if worn for prolonged periods of over 2 hours could irritate neck my muscles. Head band works fine but I don't know if I could change back to the stems because of the snug fit of the attachments in the holder. The forehead rest gets really sweaty really fast but I think I can work around that problem with a paper towel. The nose rest could be a problem depending on your nose size and shape. Conclusion: I think it is a good value. I would be willing to purchase this unit again because it is easier for me to use than stocking multiple pairs of magnifier glasses and is much more comfortable to wear than the other more traditional types I have used. I had been hoping to win the lottery so I could afford to order a pair of the custom optic magnifiers but now I don't have to. Disclaimer: There are other options out there similar to this. I have not tried them. This one works for me and unless I have a reason to try others I probably won't.

I bought these for the interchangeable magnification. I build models, paint miniatures, and do small-scale products such as electronic soldering or cleaning the sensors on my various cameras. These all require different levels of magnification for me, so I decided to give this set a shot. First, what I'm comparing this to: I have one of those old school visor-type magnifiers. You know what I'm talking about. And I only have one power for it. I can purchase more, but that was a separate cost and this new set was more economical than the same levels of magnification bought separately for my old unit. Out of the box, I was impressed by the build quality. This unit was way more sturdy than I was expecting for the price. However, that is also its one potential downfall. With the batteries inserted and with the weight of the full power lens, this becomes quite a hefty piece to be sitting on the bridge of your nose for an extended period. The head strap does alleviate the pressure a bit, but it's still very noticeable. It remains to be seen how comfortable these will be for a longer painting session. (It's worth noting that you can slightly adjust the nose bridge, if you're careful, by bending the arms in or out for a better fit -- and this also helps with comfort.) The LED is surprisingly powerful. However, the cold, flat light makes me think that this will be more useful for projects that only require light, not quality light (such as electronics). For painting, I might just stick with my normal lamps. Now it's the lenses in this kit that really blew me away. Optically, they are phenomenal! In a direct comparison to my old magnifying visor, it's like night and day in terms of clarity. The lenses in my old visor are clean and scratch-free, and they seemed fine. But after looking through these lenses, it's like I'm looking through fog with my old set. I was truly and honestly impressed with these lenses and this is far and away the best part of this kit. I feel like this will be nearly perfect for my needs. If necessary, I'll update this review once I've had some longer sessions with it.

If you're an electronics enthusiast or pro, I highly recommend getting this to make working with smaller components a comfortable experience. I'm pretty darn happy with this product. The head sizing is a bit on the narrow side for me, but I have a pretty wide head. The only thing I would say is a true negative is that it's designed to take 3x AAA batteries if you want to use the LED illuminator, which makes this too front-heavy in my opinion. The lenses are high quality - unlike cheap magnifies that have lenses with obvious warp and distortion, I could not perceive any uneveness when viewing through these lenses. At higher magnification, there is some chromatic aberration (unavoidable - you can't cheat physics). If they were somehow able to offer an achromatic set, I would be willing to pay lots more for this. But for the price? These are fantastic. I am kicking myself for not buying these years ago! The lens position is easily adjusted, and the lens "float" in front of you with plenty of unlenses open space around them so that you can, for example, have a magnified view of your workpiece and then glance outside of that field for a normal view. This work well for me for doing SMD electronics assembly work. As I'm getting older, I can't do SMD work without magnification. With these magnifiers, I can see 0603 components and pads at a comfortable distance and then peek out to my schematic, BOM, and the labels on the component bags, all without having to touch the magnifier. 2.5X and 3.0X seems to work best for me. Keep in mind that higher magnifications have a shorter focal length, so there are some tradeoffs that you'll have to experiment with. When I was younger and didn't need anything to work on 0603's, I probably could have worked with 0402's all day long wearing these.

I bought these glasses mainly for soldering header pins on printed circuit boards (PCBs). These pins are spaced 0.1 inches (2.54 mm) apart, so precision is important when you don't want to create short-circuits between adjacent pins. I looked around at other options, some of which could only magnify one eye at a time (i.e., they could not provide depth perception). I decided that depth perception would probably be a good thing when weilding a ~645°F (~340°C) soldering iron, so I pulled the trigger and ordered these glasses. These glasses turned out to be exactly what I wanted. Some of the nice features: + five different magnifaction lenses I typically use the 2.0x for soldering, but sometimes switch to the 3.5x to inspect my joints. Note: even the 1.0x lense provides some magnification, so I guess it's a little more than 1.0x. + light weight It comes with a headband if you prefer that, but I just wear them with the normal glasses stems and I do not feel any extra weight "pulling" them down or off my head when I lean over. This is the case with the batteries in. If you are concerned about them being front-heavy, don't be; they are not. Whether you use the stems or the headband is a matter of personal preference. + LED flash light I don't always use the LED because my work area (dining room table) is pretty bright, but it has come in handy when I needed it. Having grown up in an era where I had to hold the flashlight for my Dad whenever he was fixing anything, I always appreciate head-mounted flashlights.

For the price, I think it's worth the 5 stars. Now, I've only had it 30 minutes, so if it breaks the first time, I'll update my review. It's relatively easy to figure out - put the included batteries in the device (near the brow) and snap in the included lens of your choice (5 to choose from), and voila! I started with the heaviest magnification, and I could only see about 10" away, maybe not that much. The lighter magnification gave me a longer field of vision. That's ok - for what I'll be using it, it will be just dandy. I've attached some photos - the instructions which may answer some questions about the product; the products with a ruler (the lenses are about 3-3/4" wide, and the headpiece is about 5" wide); a top and belly view of the headpiece as well as a piece of the temple/sides showing how you remove the temple/side and plug in the strap for the headband. It comes with a case for the lenses, an optional strap to wear around your head if you remove the temples/sides, a wipe cloth, 3 batteries and the headpiece. I went ahead and bought a set of tweezers but haven't tried them yet...and you really don't care about those, do you? There were some reviews that talked about it being top heavy, and yeah, I can see that, especially with long work, but I needed something to check my dogs' ears, eyes, teeth, skin, etc., whenever they got a pricker or tick. I can also use it with jewelry and any other things I want. If I had to use this 8 hours a day, I think I would look around for a better option and do some tests with them as well as expect to spend more. But, this works absolutely fine for my needs. I just hope I don't look like the villain from Predator when I wear these. LOL.

For the price of this item i cannot complain but it should be much better. I bought it because of the HUGE number of good reviews. I almost returned it but with some TLC and patience - I now like it despite of the initial problems. here is the Good - and the BAD. GOOD -- ANd the BAD basic design - the lights are VERY effective and VERY useful - And yes i prefer the slight extra wt of the triple A's for long life. And yes the battery insertion is NOT a no-brainer. It takes some ' messing with that could have been avoided by a simple change in the original compartment design. the ears are s SUPER pain in ass top insert. After rimming off a tine casting bur - it went well and I retested several time - worked fine now. The head strap is a good idea and i like it but once again MINOR improvement needed. Hed strap MUST Be inserted the correct way. DID finally see a 1 and 2 on both parts to insure it matched. VERY HARD TO SEE! - nee to be large and visible. The hed band needs to be longer. I have an average size head for an adult male and the band was just long enough with not a centimeter to spare! The lenses ( seem like god quality) will fall out with only a slight bump. the storage box is nice and is a must have. The light on/off button as VERy hard to use. I found using fingernail and not my thumb worked better. A switch profile that stands up a 1/4' or so would solve the problem. the lens adjustment is VERY hard to move and must be done with lens NOT inserted - which defeats the benefit of the feature. I found that for my use - putting the nose est high up on the bony part was the least fatiguing . I also found that with the head band - if you place far down on your head in the rear - it tends to take the discomfort almost completely off your nose. Play wit a bit and you will see and feel what suits you best. The clarity and depth of field of what was in focus at highest power was excellent.. It is over-all a good device. I believe that if the company corrected these items and charged a coupe more bucks - it would become a 5 star no-brainer. Keep in mind that most of the criticisms were solveabe after the first day of getting used to it - and 'problems' that go away with a bit of use. Keep in mind - If my head had been a half size bigger I would have returned it. If I did not figer out what was making the 'ear bars and bad so hard to connect - I would have returned it -- none of this would have ha ANYTHInG to do with the actual performance - which was actually good - minor stuff - eg lights were great - light switch - not do great. Attention to detail - all minor easy fixes

First off, this is NOT of the quality of a dental or medical, glass lens magnifier (cost > $600) or even the Optivisor glass lens magnifier (cost > $70). This is a cheapie Chinese product with acrylic lenses. That being said, this magnifier's assortment of lenses is spectacularly good FOR THE PRICE. Yes, I could find a tiny amount of distortion out near the edge of vision, but that's not where I'll be looking while using them, so that's not a problem for me. Anywhere near the center of what I'm looking at, they are as good as and clear as the high-end glass lenses, for my use. Using the 2.5x or 3.5x lenses, the magnifier gives me the ability to read really tiny print, or more important for me, the ability to clearly see the individual points on a fine dovetail saw (14-to-16 PPI) when sharpening or setting the teeth. At age 82, that had become almost impossible, even with strong readers. With this little gem, it's a snap. The first one I got, the lights didn't work. I didn't even try to insert the generic Chinese AAA batteries that came with it. Those "super heavy duty" zinc chloride (or zinc carbon) batteries are notorious for leakage - the acidic leak from such "heavy-duty" batteries directly corrodes metal contacts and circuitry through acid erosion. And because the battery compartment is directly in front of the forehead-rest, any leak while you are using the magnifiers will likely result in the acid running down your face, maybe into your eyes...no bueno. So just do NOT use the enclosed batteries. I put in 3 Energizer Max batteries...nothing. Tried again, making sure I was getting them positioned right...nothing. I requested to return the unit, and 16 hours later, before I even had a chance to take the first one to a UPS Store to process it, the replacement unit arrived today. Lights both work perfectly. They aren't super bright, or tightly focused, but the light-bracket is adjustable, and the little LEDs give you pretty good visibility, right down into where I'm working. I also have a low-hanging fluorescent fixture above my bench, and I use a small 120v gooseneck LED lamp off to the side, to give me shadows and contrast. So the lights on the magnifier aren't completely essential for me, but they do point straight down into the workings of mechanical saw-set, so they help a lot. There are several adjustments on the magnifier: (a) the entire lens-holding structure can be swung up and away from your eyes to use normal vision, which is necessary for anything more than 8 or 9 inches away if you're using the 2.5x lenses - these magnifiers, like all such, have a very small and close "comfort zone" of viewing. You CAN extend that zone by an inch or two, but only with increasing eye strain as you pull away. With the 3.5x lenses, the comfort zone is even closer, only 5 or 6 inches (my guess, not scientific). For my use, the 2.5x lenses are just right. (b) the lens itself is in a holder on a medium-tight hinge, so its angle can be adjusted - I didn't think that was all that important, but you can reduce reflected lighting and get the clearest view possible. (c) the headband is nicely adjustable, for comfort. (d) as I said earlier, the light bracket can be pointed where you want the light. (e) the entire lens-holder is in a slot, and can be moved closer to your eyeball or farther from it. Range is 45mm to 65mm. I found that in the closest position, 45mm, I increased the comfort zone just a bit, letting me focus comfortably at about 9.5 or even 10 inches from the lens. Conversely, moving it out to 65mm tightens the vision range - I got a wider field of vision, but couldn't focus comfortably out past about 8.5 inches (again, this is my guestimate). Likely the worst thing about this magnifier is the gibberish they provide as instructions. You get things like, "Extended Gacoing lenses in the lens is arranged below the middle, has opened a U-shaped notch, this design can make the eye lens and the distance closer, make the eye field is wider, observe the object more easily." Anyone want to take a guess as to what the heck that says? Anyway, forget the instructions. I think this is the best $16 I've invested in my eyes. I think you will find thi magnifier more than satisfactory.
