Operator Error
OK, I have had this little doodad for a little over a year. I was looking for a quick, healthful way that I could prepare my eggs: preferably, in such a way that they would fit an English muffin for an "on-the-go" breakfast sandwich. I used it off and on, liking it, but also having a bit of frustration as I experienced the whole "sticking" thing that several other reviewers mentioned. Every time I used it, there was egg white stuck to the inside and I would have to rub and rub with the sponge to get it clean. A scrubby would have been faster, but I did not want to risk scratching the material and making my problem even worse. I did not want to try oil (again the "healthful" thing - also, if I did, then I may as well fry the eggs), I did not want to leave an average or negative review since there were so many peeps who did not have the problem. Hence, I figured it was operator error for me... and I was right. I started using this again, and have used it every day for the past two weeks. Up until four days ago, I had to allow myself an extra few minutes to ensure I had time to get it clean before leaving for work. The best day ever was the day that (when in a rush), I put a little more water on the "egg side" than usual. I did not take the time to dump the extra water and just rushed on through... then I bumped it as I was putting it in the microwave causing even more water from the other side to get added to the egg (I took the advise of other reviewers and when I only cook one egg, I always put water on the empty side). When I opened it back up, there was a perfectly poached egg - no egg-splosions, and nothing stuck to the inside... anywhere! I have repeated the same "mistake" every day since and have had the same perfect results. Happy Girl! Now just a quick swipe with a soapy sponge, a quick rinse and out the door. Had to hurry up and write the review to say how pleased I am!

EASY to use with GREAT results
This is AWESOME. So easy to cook a few eggs, so fast, so easy to clean up. I used to eat cold, hard boiled eggs for breakfast, but now I have just as quick a breakfast (okay, 50 seconds not as quick) that is hot. On cold mornings, it's nice. The hinge works fine -- just open it carefully. The top does lay flat, but you have to help it down. It takes no effort. For the people who complain...I can see how they broke it, but geesh, it's a plastic product with plastic hinges; it isn't a door with metal hinges! Just ease up. It takes getting used to a little bit to monkey with time for your oven. Because you put water in it to poach the egg, you have to "learn" what is water, what is uncooked egg white. They truly come out as poached, which means cooked in water. For the price, it can't be beat! Easy to clean, easy to throw in the washer -- but really, just a wipe out is clean enough (because you cook in water, nothing sticks). Recommended.

Microwaves don't really poach an egg the way I like it
This product works very well if you like a poached egg cooked so the yolk is solid. I prefer my poached eggs with a runny yolk, and microwaving the egg results in a hard yolk before the egg whites have cooked. I'm not faulting the designers of this product, it is very easy to use and clean up. I will keep this and throw it in my camping box for the next time I'm on the road, but it's not my favorite way to make a poached egg. I think the best way to use this is to cook an egg in a perfect circle, then lift it out and pat it dry and make a breakfast sandwich with ham/bacon and cheese on an English muffin.

Best Egg Poacher
This is the second unit I have ordered, the first one was lost during a move. If you follow the instructions you will have perfect poached eggs every time. This is my method: spray both the inside halves with "PAM" cooking spray, put a pat of butter to each bottom on the poacher, give both the halves a liberal twist of freshly ground pepper and salt, the water (don't forget the water), and finally add the eggs and close the two halves together(See Cons.) Cooking the eggs requires some testing with the microwave wattage (750,800,1000,1200) and the size of the eggs. A couple of small eggs in a 1200 watt microwave for two minutes will yield some hard eggs, Whilst a couple of Jumbo eggs in a 750 watt microwave for two minutes will yield some soupy eggs. Cons: The HINGES are difficult to use: They are hard to put together yet fall apart at any given time. They are difficult to close and I always have a strong rubber band to keep the haves sealed. I have tried two other microwave egg poaching products; The big white egg poacher always gives me hard boiled eggs and it takes much longer at least 8 minutes and then you have to deal with the shell. The other product is something like Eggletts. You get 6 Silicone egg pods with lids. The pods need to be sprayed with Pam. You have to crack each egg into a pod and screw the lid on. Place the pods in boiling water, 8 minutes for soft boiled and 13-15 minutes. This product prep time is longer and it cooks in water I tried the eggletts once and several tops came off, it was was a mess. Bottom line if you like poached eggs that can cook quicker than your toast then the Nortic Ware product is for you.

Don’t put in dishwasher
It’s a ok item but only worth 3 stars. I was so excited to get it couldn’t wait to use it. I’m the old fashioned egg cooker type of gut frying pan and butter. My kids started to make eggs in a coffee mug in the microwave. But the mugs where always a pain to clean after. That’s why I picked this up thinking it was meant to be. Well at first it worked great made poached eggs perfect every time. Then one day I put in the dishwasher top rack like every other time and when it came out it was warped. Couldn’t close the lid. It was only 4th or 5th time using it. Couldn’t figure out what went wrong the description states dishwasher safe. Also not the first time putting it in the dishwasher. So I don’t know how it warped I’m still giving it the benefit of the doubt with 3 stars because it did work in the beginning. But if you want my advice wash it by hand don’t listen to the description. That way you can have it longer and enjoy making eggs faster easier also with no butter just a little water.

This thing is great!
So if you're any kind of adult, you'll know that breakfast is kind of a pain. I've pre-made eggs before but reheating them the day after is kind of so-so. I found this on sale for like 2 bucks and I figured I've spent 2 bucks on a lot worse. I went ahead and picked up two in case I liked it and needed a backup. I didn't expect much out of it but its pretty sturdy. I sprayed some oil in both cavities, dropped in two extra large eggs and nuked them in two phases. 40 seconds for the first go and then another 15. It was still a little gooey after 40 seconds which is why I gave it another 15. Eggs came out great and simple. The yolk was soft. Clean up is a breeze with the exception of the hinges. I can see gunk building up in there if you're not vigilant about cleaning all the nooks and crannies. I think the full price for this about 6.50 USD. Would I pay that much for another one? Probably not. Around 4 bucks, I would. Also, some have noted that this doesn't snap tight. I'm not saying this closed and snapped all the way but it definitely closed to the point where I felt it wasn't going to spring open. Plus I think it's designed to give a little bit of leeway since eggs do tend to "pop" when you microwave them. ----- Update - 7/1/19 Discovered that you really don't need oil at all. The eggs, for the most part, pop right out. You'll just need to give it an extra scrub when cleaning. Also realized that the hinges can pop out so cleaning is much easier. This thing really is great for the morning!

Hopeless
I don't know how the people here who have praised this product managed to cook eggs that were edible. My first try was by following directions at the lowest time (1 minute 15 seconds) and I ended up with perfectly hard cooked eggs. So, I tried again, lowering the cooking time to 1 minute. This time I had one egg hard cooked and the other with runny whites. I then thought maybe a little more water might help so I used a tsp of water in each cup. Same results as the second with one hard cooked and one barely cooked. That's when I threw it in the trash. I was trying to find the perfect method for cooking eggs where I ended up with fully cooked whites and a runny yolk. I have tried soft boiled (too iffy on the timing), over easy (I mostly broke the yokes) and poached (again iffy on the timing and mostly messy). Finally I came up with the perfect way to cook eggs the way I like them. I found a frying pan that perfectly fit two eggs. I melted some butter in the pan and cracked in the two eggs. I let them cook over medium low heat for about a minute to mostly set the whites. I then added a couple of tablespoons of water, put on a glass lid and turned the heat to low. I then "steam fried" the eggs for another 2 minutes or so, watching the yolks through the glass top. When the yolks were slightly filmed over, I tested the whites. Perfectly cooked. I then drained the eggs on a paper towel and flipped them onto a piece of buttered toast. Heaven! Perfectly cooked eggs, firm whites and runny yolks. I just wish I could figure out a better way to drain them so I ended up with the yolks face up on the bread but, what the hey, I'm just happy to have perfectly cooked eggs!

GREAT little egg poacher
First of all, I must say that if I had realized how easy it would be to use this poacher, I would have purchased it years ago. Yes, there is an adjustment period you need to go through to understand how this will work in your particular oven, but once you are past that, you're all set. I love poached eggs and for me it took too long to boil the water, slide the egg in gently, take it out and drain it before eating it. This little gadget does the trick! I have a 1000 watt microwave & here's what I do for 2 eggs: 1. Briefly spray each side w/cooking spray 2. Crack the eggs & put one in each side 3. Take a fork & pierce the yolk AND white several times. (you don't want to scramble it, just make sure it's pierced good) 4. Add 1/2 teaspoon of water to each well (on top of the egg) 5. Close the lid 6. Microwave for 1:20 (1min 20sec) at 70% power (you will hear some popping) 7. Let it sit for at least 30 seconds to complete cooking For 1 egg: 1. Briefly spray one side w/cooking spray 2. Crack the egg into the side you just sprayed 3. Take a fork & pierce the yolk AND white several times. (you don't want to scramble it, just make sure it's pierced good) 4. Add 1/2 teaspoon of water to EACH well 5. Close the lid 6. Microwave for 50 seconds at 70% power (you will hear some popping) 7. Let it sit for at least 30 seconds to complete cooking This gives me eggs that are cooked just right, not too hard and not runny. They slide right out of the wells and they are perfect for an egg sandwich with English muffins. You could also get started on an egg salad with this if you wanted. Overall, this is one of my better buys for the kitchen.

Good but cant get yolk soft and white firm
Like: great for speed and a reasonable result (white cooked and yolk firm). 2 and 1 egg both ok. great for stopping exploding egg mess. convenient dislike: cant get white firm and soft runny yolk - even on the minimum recommended setting. suspect I need to play around with 80% or 50% power but takes a while and lots of eggs to experiment.

Perfect eggs everyday
It does the job well. It took 3-4 attempts to figure out perfect microwave power and time settings as per my individual requirement. Once thats figured out, it’s exactly repeatable every-time. Also its easy to clean. My settings for two eggs from the refrigerator: 1 minute on 520W Stand for 30 secs 15 secs on 520W Stand for 30 secs 10 secs on 520W Stand for 60 secs Adding a little water as per product instructions, and standing times are important to get the perfectly cooked whites and soft liquidy yellow.

Works great!
I bought this item when I was temporarily living in a place without a stove. I used this item for a few months and it was a really great item! Highly recommend if you only have a microwave! :)
