The Football Boy Wonder

The book is well-written and engaging, and it is sure to inspire young readers who have dreams of their own. The characters are relatable and the plot is exciting, making this a perfect book for children ages 7-13.

One of my 10 year-old soccer loving son’s favorite books! Soccer, magic, “underdog who triumphs over the bully;” this book has everything any young soccer player will love. But my son personally related to the character in this book. My son had a lung condition called bronchiectasis. Like the boy in this book, he did lung exercises (i.e. breathing treatments, inhalers, and used “the vest” twice a day). My son eventually had a lobe of his lung removed. Through determination, he built his fitness back up and was thrilled when he made the travel soccer team last year. How exciting to find a story and main character in which my son could relate! Such a beautiful soccer story about the underdog reaching his dreams.
