With Flow meter, you have the power to automate, manage water consumption, and detect leaks in your home or building. This is an integral part to a complete water management solution. Flow Meter tracks water usage and reports gallons used. Track your households water usage and drill into reports to find out where your peak consumption is and make changes to reduce your water bills. Flow meter tells you if water is flowing or if it’s off. It knows if the flow is small, like a running toilet, or if it’s large, like a garden hose left on. Flow meter can detect leaks or fixtures left on. It tracks usage and allows you create smart triggers using your Z-waveTM home automation system. To add to it’s capabilities, flow meter checks the temperature in the nearby surrounds to detect for freezing conditions and sends temperature alerts. There’s also a backup battery, just in case power is interrupted. You won’t have to worry about lost data or lack of leak monitoring. Plumbed on the water main, flow meter is sure to be a valuable part of your total home automation & leak prevention system.

An effort to install and get working but worth it
I purchased this in conjunction with a FortrezZ water valve to monitor water consumption at a vacation home where a trespasser was stealing water from outdoor spigots. It is operated through the SmartThings controller. It does take some effort to install and set up. The first device I received was defective; while it would pair appropriately over the network it recorded no flow. FortrezZ support is very good, however. They are easily reached on the phone. They sent out a replacement device, though it was a hassle to re-install it and arrange to return the defective unit. I would recommend plumbing it so that the flow meter and water valve can be bypassed in the event of a problem. There is no app on the SmartThings marketplace at present for this device. One has to go into the Samsung IDE (integrated development environment) and install code from GitHub. So far, there is only compatible software available for SmartThings, so I would not recommend it if you plan to use it with another controller unless you are adept at programming. While there is a learning curve involved, FortrezZ supplies step-by-step instructions for setting it up with SmartThings. The unit has functioned reliably for over a year now. The one blip was an update to the SmartThings hub that required revising the software. I called FortrezZ and again their support was outstanding. It is great to see how much water is being consumed. It can also be set to shut off water flow, if the valve is also installed, when water exceeds a certain flow rate or volume over time. An unexpected benefit was that I could measure how much water was being lost from a leaky toilet, which was a surprisingly large amount. It is an expensive device and then there is the cost of having a plumber install it. However, I have also saved money because it motivated me to fix the leaky toilet. I plan to install leak detectors. The system provides considerable peace of mind. And, for preventing water theft, I think this is the best possible solution.

Terrific product - highly recommend
I recently had a major water issue that required some significant replumbing. As part of that upgrade I picked up this Flow Meter, a Z-Wave shut-off valve, and some water sensors. Happy to report that this item was a terrific addition to my system.First, the item is very expensive. It is easily my most costly Z-Wave product. That said, the build quality is terrific. You are purchasing a quality flow meter. Second, the customer service is terrific. I had a question about installation (instructions stated that the device must be installed horizontally but I only had a vertical option). Sent an email and got a response immediately outlining my options (and yes you can install it vertically). The device handler within Smartthings is pretty good. Only minor reporting delays when flow is moving through the system. I'm obsessed with looking at the graphs and monitoring how much water we are using for showers, baths, washing machines and dishwashers. Now I'm craving even more information. This is another must-have device in a smart home. Make sure you pair it with a Z-Wave shut-off valve (I went with the option from Dome - currently around $100), and leak detectors. It won't guarantee that you will be free from water damage but it will absolutely limit any damage coming from your plumbing.

this is a nightmare
got it 2018, it was such a task to software install. fortrezz gave no help in 2018 to set up. never heard of github and now 2019 the graphing stopped. contacted tech support and what a joke, gave links to a app that is stopping in days to show graphing. they have no software to support on smarthings at all told me its not there problem contact smartthings..... really i spent over 3 grand on products and they cant help. smarthings said its not there problem and dont directly support fortrezz. now i have multiple fortrezz products that dont work and no help from fortrezz. f-you frotrezz and anyone buying currently it wont work with smartings and they have no answers, still no help, this doesn't work, fortrezz won't help

Very limited information and capability with Samsung Smartthings
This worked with the Classic app, but Samsung discontented it. If the company were to actually create a useful device handler to work with Smartthings I would give it a 5 but not right now.

275 bones and it wont configure on Smatthings
I thought this was a great idea for me to track usage and keep the water company honest. I was wrong, While it connects with Smartthings it has no configuration to make it useful. There is a lengthy process to follow to download code and use a secondary website to load the configuration of the device. None of the was adrertised when I was looking for this technology. Fortrezz says it works with smatthings. They just tell half of the truth. Also the complex instructions to get it to configure are for a smartthings app that's several versions old. If you have a smartthings hub look elsewhere. I'm stuck with it.

Well worth it!!!
The price of $275 had me holding back for a few weeks but I finally pulled the trigger and with just a half a day worth of information and play time, the product has won me over. The package is well worth the money. I will not hesitate to push this product. I have 16 other z-wave different devices and this one it's near the top if not, on top.The general overview screen is packed with all the necessary information and the smart apps for notifications is perfect. I set 3 different alarms in a few seconds. Anyone that's even thinking about buying this product should go for it. I was NOT offered anything for this review and paid FULL price, this is my honest review!
