A Blessing for Gardening In Hard Rocky Soil!
I have horrible red rocky clay soil in my yard which is so difficult to dig in that I need a heavy digging pole to dig holes more than a couple inches deep or wide. It is hard work and very frustrating to plant anything. I ordered a couple of shepherds' hooks recently for my garden, and I decided to try to make my life easier by ordering these augurs and drilling holes into my awful soil rather than trying to dig holes for the shepherds' hook prongs. I don't know why I didn't order these sooner because they have made a huge difference in my ability to quickly and easily dig holes for the shepherds' hooks as well as bulbs and plants. After I got the shepherds' hooks installed, I quickly and easily planted 50 narcissus bulbs in under an hour, a chore that would easily have taken me half a day of slow and difficult digging the old way. I like that there are different sizes and lengths of these augurs which will accommodate different planting hole sizes. The augurs are very easy to insert into the drill, are very sturdy, and made quick work drilling holes into my awful soil. I am sure I will be using them for a wide variety of chores such as aerating my compost piles, planting/transplanting. I only wish I had bought these years ago - they would have saved me many hours of drudgery and frustration!

Highly Recommended for New Gardeners!
I was worried about figuring out how to use this, but it couldn't be simpler. I attached the auger drill bit to my regular household drill, and it fit perfectly. Within minutes, I was digging neat, uniform holes with minimal effort.Digging holes by hand can be exhausting, especially for someone new to gardening like me. This tool made the process so much easier and faster. I was able to plant all my bulbs and seedlings in a fraction of the time it usually takes, without getting tired. The auger feels very sturdy and well-made. I’ve used it several times already, and it shows no signs of wear. The heavy-duty steel construction and black paint finish give me confidence that this tool will last a long time. One of the things I love most about this tool is how user-friendly it is. It’s lightweight and easy to handle, which is great since I’m not very strong. The design makes it comfortable to use for extended periods without causing strain. As someone just starting out, I didn't want to spend a lot on tools. This auger drill bit is very reasonably priced for the quality and convenience it offers. It’s definitely worth the investment for the amount of time and effort it saves.

Must have gardening tool
This auger drill bit worked great. I have only used the larger 3" bit so far. It made it easy to drill holes in the soil to plant bulbs. The biggest reason why I bought it was to drill many holes and loosen up the ground to plant bushes. With the tough clay ground I have in my flower bed, it is normally very difficult to dig out a large hole for planing bushes. Using the auger bit on the drill made the task 1000 times easier. Easy to wash off too. Would recommend.

Augers for planting
Works well for digging holes. I agree with other reviews of using smaller auger first and then larger one for large holes. Great for planting from small up to 3 gallon plants. Just the tool to save time, faster job and easier on you.

Won't work in any soil that has not been worked before.
Would work in soil that has been tilled within the past year or so. Anything that hasn't been worked before this item will not dig into. I bought this to see if I can be more precise about planting 50+ cedar trees on my property for a windbreak and only got one hole fully made with this item. It will do what it advertises but not in pasture ground like where I was working.
