Turn it on and off 5 times!
Had major issues trying to get the light strip to work properly. The answer is to do a full reset of the light strip turning it on and off 5 times. On the fifth time of turning it on, wait. It will flash through a set of colours and end up in steady white. Then you can re-add it as a device in the app.The software is extreme buggy, and this is simply not good enough. In my professional opinion, (as former software engineer) it should not have been released into the market. It is shoddy and unprofessional. The bugs I have found so far: (applies to LIFX Android app version 4.10.1 (b10273), which is current release version in Android play store on 25 August 2021.1. Switching colours in the palete often does not work.2. I have 3 colours set up in the palette, one white, two pink, and where switching between white and a pink does work, switching between the two pinks which show up in the palette as different colours, doesn't show any change in colour of the light. Explain that one!3. Sliding the brightness slider in the "Colours" screen stopped working and the brightness no longer changed in response to the slider. You can get these functions to resume working by experimentation, switching between screens in the app, but it's just guess work. And I have only looked at perhaps 30% of the capability of the software. I haven't even tried to do anything fancy with the lights yet, and from what I have seen so far, I don't have confidence that is not going to be problematic. I may stay away from the more sophisticated functionality for that reason.Software needs much more thorough testing and I would suggest code reviews by more experienced programmers.Having said all of that, the lights are really cool, very powerful capability as each LED is individually addressable and therefore independently controlled. It's just let down by buggy software on the Android app.

Stay away get something else.
So buying this and I really regret it.Reconnecting to wifi is a problem. It does not even stay connected to a 2.4GHz network over night. It was overpriced as well compared to other products and I replaced it with a product with the same price for half the cost. The app works and it does connect with Google. But it disconnects and fails on firmware upgrade. When it was bright it works very nice though and is quite bright. As a tech person having multiple things in my home like Google home and other iot this was horrible addition, sadly I can't even return it as I threw away the package and box.

GARBAGE!
So...what a shame. First off I want to say that the sharpness and colour offering of this product is very good, the installation was a little cumbersome but otherwise not much of an issue. Once up and running I fell into a world of colourful possibilities, I was swept away with its mood setting potential and had instantly fell in love! Until...darkness...no longer was I having fun and setting moods I was now resetting, app closing, disconnecting and reconnecting the strip over and over and over and over and over again. It's quite literally a disaster...the WiFi we have is strong powerful and capable of juggling many different connections but not this L.E.D strip! One minute you're in control and the next it's a 10 minute car crash of trying to regain control...multiple times a day! Jeez Lifx you really have to sort this out, I won't be jumping back in bed with you guys anytime soon. I would stay away.

1m strip seems to be fake? BUYER BEWARE
I did get a refund but the 1m strips supplied have no proper male and female ends on them to connect to anything and also did not have the same thickness, branding and had only a RGB light and no separate white channel as the normal LIFX extension that comes with the power supply have.Maybe it was a factory error but just seemed weird that they look nothing like the other strips I got at the same time from this same amazon store which is weird. The boxing seemed legit though but that's about it.Happy to change review if there's an explanation that makes sense but seems to be fake sorry!

Impossible to set up with my Virgin Media Router
Avoid this if you have a Hub 3 Virgin media box. I tried everything that the company suggested to get this up and running. it was impossible to get the light to connect via the App to the Router. Although they have a good customer support team it was escalated to the highest level and proved impossible to get to work

Brilliant colours & themes
Bought two, one for a high wall trim effect & the other behind the TV. Both bring great effects with a glow of your choicing.Brighten or dim light controls also has the ability to dance to sound with music mode. There maybe 1 or 2 things what could be added where there's not a option for. But really not worth mentioning.Good to go off the shelve!!! & into your home,office,etc...Recommend to anybody who looking to shine the light.Get creative by hiding the stripes which provides a solid glow or use accessories like a diffuser to the stripes brings a different look to Dimension effects.

Software issue - poor customer service
To start off with the positives when the lights are working they are really good and the app features are excellent too. However onto the negatives. The software is full of bugs. Every time I turn them off I have difficulty reconnecting. For a top of the market priced product there is also a lot of manual reading and complication with how to reset the lights. Even then then is always some small minute issue that takes a while to resolve.More so this would not be an issue if they had great customer support however it takes weeks to get a response from lifx. Plus the reply is always something generic. Definitely far from a top level company like Apple. But charges the highest prices for lights. All round £70-£80 gone to waste. I am still waiting for 2 months on a resolution for my lifx led strips but just seem to be going back and forth. Good luck if you decide to buy them.
