Good, inexpensive unit
The Netgear Mingle works well under light use. The support from FreedomPop is a little difficult, but if one is persistent, the account can be set up successfully.

Don't waste your time or money with FreedomPop
I signed up for service with FreedomPop when they were a young company. They continually change the terms of service on customers without any notice. They institute new charges and bill your credit card without any authorization. They renege on agreements to make refunds and other concessions. And they do all of this without any advance warning. This is not a company you want to deal with. Please don't fall into their trap like I did.

Do your homework on account settings, but very happy with mine.
I did not buy through Amazon, but I've been happy with mine (about 1.5 years now). I initially had the 3g fallback and rollover setup (~$10/month) and it worked great for my needs (occasionaly travel business need). I changed to the free plan and have still been happy. Saw all the negative reviews and wanted to comment in their favor. I think Freedompop gets a bad rap as it has limited cust serv available and their website can be tricky to make sure you get down to a 'free' situation. If this causes billing errors, then it becomes a headaches to get it fixed. You really have to do your homework on how to setup the free plan, but considering I have a nice hotspot for backup purposes, I have 0 complaints.

I love my freedom pop hotspot!
I have a freedom pop phone (for 3 years now) and use this hot spot as a back up for extra data, internet outages,etc. Works great, very pleased!The person who says it doesnt work after a month probably needs to update their credit card (it probably expired) as FreedomPop shuts off service if they cant bill if you're not on the free plan, I know this from experience!

FreedomPop will extort money
Just a warning do not do business with FreedomPop. This company will not answer calls. They will take you money and make it disappear. FreedomPop after taking money from your account will then send you to collections for less money than you had in your account. You will then have to try and reach a representative which is never present. In the end FreedomPop will extort money from you for services you never purchased and you will be forced to pay it to maintain your good credit. This is a warning for decent people do not full your self FreedomPop is a scam avoid FreedomPop at all cost.
