Marantz keeps there logo music first with their new CD player the 6006
I have always been a believer that the standalone CD players from companies like arcam, rotel, rega, nad, etc do make a difference if you're willing to spend that kind of money 4 cd player. In the past I have owned the award-winning Arcam 73 and the Rotel rcd 1072 as well as the rega apollo every one of them are excellent CD players in their own right. That was back in the early 2000s. I'll start by saying I'm using a very nice emotiva ta-100 integrated amp that is well worth $400 but that's for another review. The two different speakers that I switch in and out are the elac B6 speakers that I have thoroughly got my money's worth on these bookshelves speakers with great Bass. And I have the Vintage mission Freedom series 700 that came out in 1984 very efficient speakers the integrated amp I know is the brain of your system and the speakers are very vital as well but with this Marantz CD player I was amazed at just how the soundstage was so Dead on. It has a very smooth is the definite adjective that fits this unit. It's very open but the thing that I noticed was how great the bass sounded. Maybe it's the new feet that are very noticeably made to cut any extra vibrations. I know they have really put the new buffer HDam. I couldn't tell you really what that does but I can tell you that the CD player which was less expensive than the previous ones I mentioned sounds as if it belongs in the thousand dollar range the way that it's built like a tank and especially the way the music the most important part of all comes out as if the band is in your living room or artist. This is the first Marantz gear I've ever bought. I kept reading year after year how good their products have been over the last few years. This is not a mass-market cookie cutter CD player. Luckily we have a Marantz dealer and I was able to get one. But with Amazon they are very accessible. I have to give this 5 stars because it don't see how there would be any complaints it seems to match with any app that you throw at it. If you have the money I'm sure the Marantz integrated amp that is made for it would be on a sensational match but it also carries a $700 price tag. The USB cord is a great addition to already a amazing sounding easy to use CD player. Like one of the earlier reviews I haven't used it yet but I could see how it would be beneficial. The remote was able to pick up my amplifier where I can turn it on with the Marantz remote that came with CD player. Marantz just keeps giving us a lot of hi fi gear that matches what their logo says on the box. Music first since buying this CD player have also bought their turntable the tt42. So if you're looking for a great CD player and your real serious about your music and you want to keep your CDs around for a little while this is definitely well worth the money if it's in your budget. Musics. Just a hobby it's therapy the Marantz 6006 CD player is highly recommended

Negative reviews proved incorrect
I bought the Marantz CD6006 in used, like new condition from Amazon seller One Call for just under $400. One Call provided a one year warranty. After reading some early negative reviews of this player, I became wary of two things: that the power switch could fail and that the player could fail to read some discs properly. One reviewer even theorized that cheap CD players would play discs more reliably than expensive players with high quality dacs.I took a chance anyway because most professional reviews sang praises for the CD6006 over its predecessors and just about any other affordable CD player out there. I am glad I did. The unit's power switch has operated flawlessly. Absolutely every disc I have thrown at the CD6006 has played perfectly. It loads discs and navigates tracks faster than my Oppo BD-93 blu ray player. As others have said, one cannot open the disc tray with the remote. It must be done from the button on the front of the player, a minor inconvenience. When you turn the unit off with the remote, this does close the tray. The CD6006 probably sounds better than I know right now - the analog section in my nine year old Yamaha AV receiver probably doesn't do justice to the player. Cds sound really nice through the built-in headphone amplifier (newly improved) and headphone jack. If you have your own high quality headphone amp, they may sound better yet. A high quality amplifier is needed to bring out the CD6006's best.I have used the player's USB port to play WMA files on a thumb drive - for compressed files, they sound quite good. The CD6006 is a heavy unit and is built like a tank - what you would expect from Marantz. It's taller than most CD players, so be sure you have shelf space for it.The Marantz CD6006 is a player for serious listeners with a large CD collection and it is well worth what you pay for it. Find one in used- like new condition and you have a bargain.

Buy at your own risk of extreme dissatisfaction.
I ordered this despite several reviews indicating units received were dead on arrival. Guess what? That’s what I got. The unit I received clearly had been sent to someone else first. It was missing the RCA cables and the wrapping was torn. I set it up anyway. It would turn (I think) on and the CD drawer would open if you tried several times, but the display was dead. There is a dimming feature that could have been the issue but was not. The dim light would turn red, but that’s the only part of the display that functioned. The unit I received would not play any disc. Google problems with this unit before you order. The problem I had with this unit are very common. Even if by random chance you get one that works initially, I would be very concerned about its longevity. My unit made weird noises when the CD drawer opened and then closed. The power button is not a real switch. Although this is a good looking unit and is supposed to sound good I’d ordered something else to replace it. I’m done with Marantz.
