Works well up to a certain size of birds.When birds grow larger, the container needs to be fastened or hung as it will get tipped over. I also place a wider deep dish below it to catch spills.It has to be raised to avoid littler getting in.Initially I was desperate and picked up the one that didn't have the jar fitting at the same time as when I got the chicks - birds quickly out grow it, within 3 weeks. This model, can last a lot longer, up to at least 10+ weeks.

Was disappointed when I received the "top" half of the feeder. I was quickly replaced with a complete unit! I am placing it inside an enclosure to keep the seed dry. Great "old school" feeder that will last for years.

Good for starting newly hatched chickens in the starter brooder

This is way too light to be useful. Chickens keep knocking it over on its side spilling all the food. I am going to try to glue it onto a heavy piece of wood to see if that makes it useful.

Came missing the bottom piece, rendering it useless. Borrowed the same one from my father. Couldn't wait for a replacement so I didn't bother returning it.
