A great entry in the series!!!!
Sad but outstanding story! Too many people die. Too many are hurt! From a worker who just wants to do the right thing to a retarded guy who just wants to go to work each day. Beau gets stopped cold by a plucky lady who just wants to protect her kids. How to explain why he's locked in her basement in just his skivies? How will he ever solve this one? Don't miss this outstanding book! Highly recommended.

just ok
Its really weird that the first time through this series I really liked it but now they just seem ok. This one actually ticked me off a bit. I hate it when some of the characters (Kramer) shirk their duties, don’t follow up on leads and jump to conclusions that are generally wrong. When someone else comes along (Beaumont) and says…hmmm something doesn’t feel right about this just to find out that they are right, there is something wrong with the big picture. Yet, Beaumont is the one that gets his butt chewed by the boss. I don’t get that. At least he finally put a phone in his car!

Seattle Mystery Surprises Right To The End
Always a pleasure to ride along with J.P. Beaumont when he is on a case. There are surprises around every corner and a cast of characters to love or hate. Laughter and tears abound on this trip. Whether or not you are familiar with Seattle, riding along with him adds to the suspense. I'm reading my way through this series again and enjoying it just as much as I did the first time.

Another Great Jance Mystery
Jance delivers another JP Beaumont mystery. I could not put it down, especially the closer I came to the climax. Highly recommend!

A Good Beaumont Series Read
Not the best in the Beaumont series, but certainly a good read. It's another step in J.P.'s personal life and career. With a nice twist at the end , it leaves the door ajar for ensuing novels.I began this series out of order, decided to start with book 1 and read in order. I find it develops his life and character better; each novel building on the previous. By no means do they need to be read in orderFor this particular one, I found it somewhat of a thriller, but more along the lines of a police procedural. It started a bit slowly, then gained momentum as it unfolded.

A more perfect union.
I love this series. Mr. Beaumont is a fantastic, realistic, amazingly human guy. He makes mistakes, drinks too much, and still gets the job done!

Who's In Charge ?
An interesting and fast paced story. Believable characters and well described. I was slow getting into the story but could nit put it down when the plot thickened.

it was like watching an old Humphrey Bogart noire movie
A bit different from her Jance's usual style. In many ways, it was like watching an oldHumphrey Bogart noire movie.
