Q: What material is the base made of? The legs look very thin for a chair that is tested up to 150kg.

The feet are metal and strong. The caster unfortunately are cheap plastic and rubbish on a short pile carpet floor.

Yes, it can be locked in different angles, with a recline of 90-155°.

Q: Is the headrest detachable?

The headrest is NOT detachable as the straps are sown in but the pillow part can be moved up or down on the straps

Q: Is the chair and most importantly the headrest comfortable to sit on for 8h a day? Headrest looks too thick

Headrest is quite soft and squishy and comfortable. It can be moved up and down on straps to get it in the right position for you. It's fine for me, I'm 5ft 5in but it's not high enough for my 6ft 6in grandson.
