Best base to start with
I'm an oyster maven so I was distressed when it disappeared from the grocery stores. Good old Amazon came through though with a few brands. So here is my up and the down of them.Neither Bookbinder or Chincoteague are adequate oyster stews by themselves. Only small pieces of oyster in each. To do it right, buy a can of boiled oysters and add about 2/3 of it to the can of oyster stew. It adds about $2 to the cost but well worth it. Now you're talking oyster stew.In my taste test, and my wife's, Chincoteague comes out on top with a more sophisticated taste. That's why it rates 5 stars to me.

Mainly consists of stew with tiny bits of oysters pieces. You will need to add more oysters from another source if you want actual oysters in this stew. The stews flavor/taste is okay.

It's taste is OK, but I won't buy it again.
Taste is OK, but there are essentially no pieces of oyster in it, it's at best a cream soup. On top of that, they use a lot of things in there that sure as heck would not be going into MY homemade oyster stew! Too many additives, not enough oysters. And it's not cheap. It's taste is OK, but I won't buy it again.

Could of been better
The Oyster Stew could of been better if it would of had whole oryster's in it. All there is, is pieces of the oryster. You have to add a complete can of milk of equal size to make this soup good. Not the best but it's still pretty good. Will not buy 12 more.

Very good Oyster Stew!!
I am very impressed with this stew. It is extremely concentrated so with it being a 15 oz can, half a can with some half & half plus hot water is a good serving. A person can use milk or water or both as per taste. It has no MSG & the oysters are Wild Caught. The oysters aren't whole but there are plenty of pieces ( unlike Bookbinders Oyster Stew, which barely has any oyster). The flavor is good. Will no doubt purchase again.
