Rosie Gigglepip's Lucky Escape (Magic Animal Friends #8) (8)

This is book 8 in the Magical Animal Friends series, modeled after the popular Rainbow Fairies books (same formula, two girls encounter a magic being that introduces them to a very "fluffy" version of a magical battle between good and bad). This book is my 9 yo daughter's favorite so far of the first 8. My 7 yo enjoys reading these series as well, but she has other books that are her favorites. My 9 yo reads at an 8th grade level and reads these books in ~20 mins, my 7 yo reads more at 3rd grade level and usually reads them over the course of two evenings at bedtime. Parent Rundown: + It is not necessary to read the books in order to enjoy this one, so if you have a young girl who likes guinea pigs, she can enjoy this story. + This is a beginning chapter book designed for budding readers, but can be enjoyed by girls through mid-elementary grades. + No potty humor. + Books contain magic and fantasy as well as an evil witch, Grizelda. My 9yo comments that Grizelda never really does anything which eventually makes for anticlimactic reading. + Plot summary: there is a storm in Friendship Forest. This book features the fourth dragon sent by Grizelda the Witch since the introduction of the dragons in book 5. This book is the grand finale of books 5, 6, and 7. The Gigglepip Family of guinea pigs is the targeted victims of Grizelda's plot this time. + No animals are actually injured, but the Gigglepips are trapped in a tornado and a roof is blown off a cafe. Grizelda makes a few appearances- her presence is more dramatic in this book then books 5, 6, and 7. The plot is resolved when the two heroines figure out how to call the dragons' mommy. The mommy dragon scares Grizelda away, and takes her imprisoned trouble-making baby dragons home. + Book contains a puzzle page and facts about Guinea Pigs in the back and sketched map of Friendship Forest in front. + Expect the content to be a tad vapid, as the Rainbow Fairies certainly were, but these books encourage children to read more when they need a mental break from school work.

My 7-year-old says: "It's an amazing book and I liked Rosie the guinea pig. She is so cute! The book was medium easy to read, similar hardness as the other Magic Animal Friends books. It took me two days to read it. I would read it again. It's the best book ever."

My 8-year old daughter loved this book and all others in this series.

My kindergarten daughter loves this series - it's boring for a grown-up to read, but great for the kids. Jess and Lily have a great way of expressing themselves and interacting, they are polite, kind, and responsible, so they are a good example for children to have as guides through this series.

My 10 year old daughter really enjoys this series of books!

It looks like it had a hard trip here. Thankfully, we can still read it.
