PROS: PRICE. Easy assembly directions. Manufacturer guarantee for issuesCONS: 2 of the faces for the drawers had some marks (scratches); but I contacted the manufacturer Lakeshore right away and they sent me 2 new drawer faces right away within days. The other CON is the drawers hit when closing. I had to rearrange all thr drawers to try to avoid this but thr bottom 2 still hit warm closing. I will have to adjust the drawer slides to fix thisIt took a bit to assemble but I am extremely happy with the product and the turnout. I have been on the hunt for a Closet System With drawers or a wardrobe with drawers and everything is beyond $500. We were able to assemble this and cut melamine shelving to make make own shelving system.with drawers around this dresser. It turned out BEAUTIFULLY.

I realize it is made of particleboard, but it still is a little bit weak. I have thick carpet in my bedroom and tried to slide it out just far enough to plug something in behind it (this is when it was still empty), and I felt the whole thing kind of twist a little bit. I put some furniture slider discs under the four corners and now it's slides very well and I think if I just act gingerly with it it will be great. It is beautiful and very functional and has really nice drawer closures. I do really like it but just treat it delicately

This is exactly what my husband and I were looking for! First of all, yes it's likely a bit cheaper than you would pay in a furniture store so therefore the quality may not be up to standard for everyone- but I was fine with that as I understood I am purchasing this product off of amazon for one and spending less money for two than I may otherwise be asked to do in a furniture store. And I didn't think the quality was that bad- I think it's actually pretty fair for the price we paid and I am happy with it.That being said I love this chest of drawers. I was looking for some type of storage unit for my husband's office. He is "techy" and needed an enclosed, fairly sturdy storage unit for his multitude of tech items: ranging from cords (SO MANY!) to electric equipment, computer equipment, etc. We didn't want to get him a regular sized dresser as this would have been too big for his office space but liked the idea of something similar to a dresser. This fits that description perfectly. It fits appropriately and nicely in his office and provides him with a lot of extra storage.Be aware the drawers of this chest are smaller than your average dresser drawers and more shallow- We liked it for that reason. I would recommend the customer consider what you plan to store in the chest- I would say this particular chest may not bode so well for most if your plan is to store clothing... unless it's light clothing or infant/children clothing (which I personally think it would work great for).We love the black and also feel the hardware is sleek and very appropriate- it works very nicely with the look of the chest.BEWARE, YES- it comes with a MULTITUDE of pieces. It's not an easy, simple or fast assembly (at least I assume for most humans :) ). I believe it took my husband about 2 hours- and he had no serious issues- it simply took that long. Not one part of it comes assembled- SO BE PREPARED TO ASSEMBLE. I want to say when I purchased this an offer popped up inquiring if I wanted to pay extra money for assembly by someone else. I of course declined as I don't want to pay an extra $30 or $40 for a person to assemble it (I'm all about saving money). BUT also I'm not certain how the "someone to assemble offer" works. I'm not certain if they contract out and someone comes to your home or they attempt to assemble it prior to shipping and hope it arrives in one piece undamaged- didn't want to do either of those situations.The box came in with fairly little damage- by that I mean it had some minor corner damage etc, but nothing to make me overly concerned and nothing on the inside was damaged. My husband and I discovered quickly it is a VERY HEAVY box. It took both of us carrying it up our 3 flights of stairs to our apt- so be prepared to get your weight lifting on if you're in a similar situation. Also be prepared to get some styrofoam strewn across your work area- it's inevitable.I believe I may have noticed another review stating their drawers came with plastic sliders- I'm not certain if I understood their review correctly but our chest of drawers came with metal sliders. So the pieces that are on the sides of each drawer that allow it to smoothly glide in/out of it's place in the chest- they all work very smoothly and we have had no issues thus far.All in all if you're looking for a "dresser" or chest of drawers this is a great option. Just remember it is smaller than a regular dresser. If you're not a stickler and overly dramatic about how "absolutely wonderful, terrific, amazing and sensational" the quality of your AMAZON furniture purchase is than I'd say give this a shot. I read the reviews before I purchased, purchased it anyways and am very glad I did. I bought this dresser despite the so-so reviews. I'll say that for the price I am happy with it! I bought the full line of South Shore furniture (two different dressers, platform bed, book case night stands, headboard), and this is what I found to be the case on all items that I purchased: (1) Assembly is not complicated, and while the picture-only instructions suffice, installing did take me longer than I thought for each item, and a few times I had to scratch my head at the instruction picture to understand what they were trying to say. All in all, you'll get a ton of individual pieces to assemble, but with a little time it's easy. (2) The two larger items (6-drawer dresser and bed) arrived with some degree of banged up corners here or there. The 6-drawer dresser has two corners beat up a little on the top. Quite a few of the platform bed slats are the same. The damage is more than can be repaired with the black sharpie (correction crayon I think they call it) and you can see deformed corners and the laminate chipped up, however again for the price it's not a bad deal, just don't expect perfect stuff when it arrives. I might try a few small slivers of black tape to see if it contains further damage, or improves the corners cosmetically. (3) When I un-boxed each item, they all looked like they were freshly packed in the wood shop. There was quite a bit of wood shavings/dust on all of the pieces. (4) Unlike what some other reviews have said, I found all of the holes to be drilled as instructed and expected. Everything lined up perfect, and at times when things didn't like up, I took a step back, looked over the instructions again, and found out where I went wrong (based on shoddy directions in some parts, perhaps). (5) 2-man assembly is recommended, however I assembled everything on my own. A second set of hands surely might have made a few parts easier/faster, but I had zero problems working solo. (6) All furniture items really show fingerprints well if you're messy and not using the handles. If you have kids that like to touch everything, I suspect you'll see little hand imprints on your furniture. It wipes off easily, though. (7) In general, everything went together well. There is a drawer on a dresser that is about 1/8" off taking away from perfection, and one of the bed slats is off by about the same (not sure if it was due to my installing or not). For the bed, once a queen mattress is paced on top, it covers the minor imperfection.If you're on the fence about buying south shore, I'd say go for it, but only if the price is right. Also, the quality seems good to me, but do expect a few dinged corners. The dings and damage may be caused during shipping, the boxes are very heavy and I'm sure they get thrown around during shipping.

I needed a more narrow dresser to fit in a closet and this was perfect. Arrived quickly, packaged well, and assembly instructions were good. The quality of the furniture is nothing amazing but okay for self-assembly stuff like this. It does its job. I wish stuff like this was priced cheaper but compared to other brands this isn't too bad.

I was a little hesitant to buy this because of the reviews. But after getting it put together, I’m pretty sure the bad reviewers just didn’t put it together properly because for such a cheap piece of furniture I am blown away by the quality of this dresser. The instructions were very clear and I was able to assemble the dresser by myself in about 2 hours. If you make sure everything is TIGHT and follow the instructions the dresser comes out perfectly. It is quite sturdy for what it is. It feels very secure even with all my stuff in it and my fish on top. No wobbling or anything. Great purchase for 200$ you seriously can’t go wrong here.Don’t be discouraged by the bad reviews. Take your time assembling and follow the instructions.UPDATE:I have now had this dresser for about 2 years. It is literally filled to the brim with clothing. I have had ZERO issues with it. It is so sturdy! Nothing has come loose, or "fallen apart" like some reviews claim. Seriously, just assemble it correctly and it is a fantastic dresser. I am about to purchase the matching one.

I bought this unit based on it's overall width - it had to fit the recess! So, I didn't pay as much attention as I should have to the drawer size.But first, this just in. The box is HEAVY and my UPS guy had had a complete sense of humour failure over it's weight. Then you have to assembly everything. I'm a handy guy and it took me three hours+ and I didn't make any mistakes or any do-overs, either. Then when you put the drawers into the cab you discover that there is a gap of three or four inches of unused drawer space at the back! WTF? You pay good money for a product designed and marketed as a storage device and then discover that - hey if you wanted the whole space used, you should have ordered the deluxe model .The kit is well made and well finished. The hardware is first class and ALL the holes are perfectly positioned and sized. I made the drawers first (to reduce the inventory of parts) and it was a breeze. I brad-nailed the bottoms to all the sides to stop rattles.I had no trouble making the cabinet. Note that the drawer glides are stamped L and R - but not easy to find at first. Solid construction for this type of cabinet. MDF 2/3 of the back plus 2 cross struts also MDF.I gave it 3 because I feel cheated out of 30% of the available capacity!!

I put this together ALL BY MYSELF! I’m in my early 20s and I have only put furniture together with my mom or dad. The instructions were really easy to follow and the quality of the piece is beautiful. Nicer than the pictures! I love it. I’ll buy from this store again !

It looks exactly how I wanted and it was easy to assemble but I have to keep fixing the drawers. I bought 2, both filled with clothing. The bottom keeps falling out as though the clothes are too heavy and the corners keep coming apart. If you don't plan on filling the drawers and it's mostly for the look then they are perfect. Otherwise these aren't the right choice. I wouldnt purchase them again.
