I added batteries and it worked perfectly with my DVD/Blu-ray player. I couldn't watch some discs without the remote and the original one was damaged. So worth the $ not to have to buy a whole new player!

Battery issue
The remote looks and works just fine for what you pay but the batteries are an issue like everyone else says. The remote asks for AAA batteries but they will not stay in and the springs do not allow you extend them so I ended up just putting AA batteries which seem to have worked just fine so far.
