Disappointed with the material.

This rain suit was a success, excluding the hood design flaw. I hiked 6 waterfalls in the Oregon rain in about 3-4 hours. I thought the paperlike fabric would not hold up and I was completely wrong. My clothing under the suit was completely dry (except for the very edge of my wrists) from rain and perspiration. My sister got the traditional plasticity rain suit and although it protected her from rain, it proved to be a sauna and she sweat in it. Frogs Togg's paperless fabric proved to be waterproof AND breathable. I would have rated this excellent/5 stars except for the design flaw of the hood. As others have said it is very small. Sure it covers your head, but there is NO over hang to protect your face. The rain will fall directly on your face and the water from the hood will dump right onto your face as well. I tucked the hood into the jacket and did not use the zipper neck pocket for it. This allowed me a high collar to keep any rain off my neck and I STRONGLY encourage you to purchase a rain hat with a brim. A baseball cap under the hood will NOT protect the sides of your face because the hood has absolutely NO over hang. I would have paid up to $10 more for a bigger hood and hope Frogg Toggs considers modifying the design, since this is a commonly reported design flaw. I'm 5'1" /109lbs. I bought a small and it was loose enough dor me to wear a jacket underneath and the velcro ankle closure made it suitable to adjust for the extra length due to my short height.

They feel like you’re wearing a paper product???? But they kept me completely dry in a heavy rain, so I’m happy! Very light and don’t make you burn up in them.

I do a lot of hiking and running in SE Alaska (lots of rain) . . .I use these preferentially over Arcteryx and Patagonia heavy duty and light duty raingear. I am always much dryer than anyone else in my group. Plan on replacing them every two to three years depending on use (I get about three years out of a set and really abuse them with lots of backcountry brush etc etc). The only situations I choose to wear some of my other raingear sets are when looking good is important (because frog toggs are great for keeping you dry but not for making you look slim or stylish) or if I'm fishing all day long in a downpour . . .then I will choose something like my heavy duty arcteryx (which is phenomenal at keeping rain out, looks good, fish slime can be rinsed off easily, but doesn't even begin to breathe . . . so frog toggs beat them out in a hiking situation hands down). If I"m headed out to hike in alpine and anticipate a combination of snow and rain . . .sometimes I wear the frog toggs but bring the heavy duty arcteryx as backup (even though - over the last three years - I've never pulled the arcteryx out of the backpack and switched - if I was dealing with a lot of wind in a almost freezing situation . . .the arcteryx hood design is super good and the frog togg hood is pretty basic).

I just spent hours in sideways wind and rain coaching at a Cross Country meet and these were champions!! I have coached for years and wish I had known about these earlier. I wore the jacket over several layers, including another jacket, for insulation because these are not designed to be warm, just bone dry. They really made my day! My high school runners were all jealous of them:)) The only reason I am giving 4 stars and not 5 is because the pants are ridiculously big through the legs...and I have muscular legs. SO, they were comfortable and dry but just too much material. I am 5'0", 115 lbs. Usually wear a size 2. I ordered small. Jacket could stand to be a little looser for layers, but pants could have been an XS- just had to buy them as a set. Also, as short as I am the arms on the sleeves were barely long enough, so you may want to consider that for your sizing. The pants were cinched up high because I am short, so could fit someone a lot taller, but they did not drag on the ground because of the adjustable band at the bottom.
