Ongoing saga ...
I had a similar unit like this for several years and I have to say that it worked as I never saw any bugs. (I don't have any rodent problems.) That unit fried after a crazy lighting strike, but when I tried to buy a new one I found there are now many to choose from so I started my research. And at some point I forgot about it. Until I found a bug. I'm not sure but I think it was the worst of the worst - a roach. I also think it was compliments of my new downstairs condo neighbor, who seems to be rather messy. Yikes.Back to the research. This unit seemed to be high tech, (all of it foreign to me ) priced right- and critical -was in stock. Click & send. The bug that I saw was in my kichen (I'm diligent about not leaving food out; I refrigerate flours & sugars; anything in a box is first put into a heavy zip lock freezer bag -so what are these gross, disgusting, gonna-barf-when-I-see-one bugs after?? More research..)Unit arrives, perfect instructions -plug & play. I put it where it I saw the hiddeous creature, in the kitchen, line of sight unobstructed, pointed right across the kitchen counter. Lights flashing, beams on, take that you little basta*d.They do warn you that you might see increased activity at first which means the magic beams are working, chasing them from their hidey-holes. Not sure how I would react to seeing multiple barf-me bugs, but the unit's next door neighbor is the coffee maker and it was beeping the following morning - coffee is done. I cautiously crept to the kitchen, tissue covering my mouth, nerves on the ready, deep breath.. and flipped on the light switch.Having envisioned a slew of critters, worthy of a movie scene waiting for me (the tissue was great but the garbage can was within striking distance; all bases covered) I scanned the counter tops- no bugs. Not a one. Huh. No barfing for me.So the jury is still out; I did see a small bug a day or two later and it wasn't running in circles or doing any weird magic-beam-hit-me things, but since the, my kitchen seems to be bug-free.My kitchen, that is. Seems that the aforementioned little bastar*d moved into my bedroom, the furthest point from the kitchen. He is no longer residing here, as he took a wild water ride to parts unknown. Thank god for flat bottomed shoes. My place is small- 2 bedroom 2 bath, maybe 1200-1300 sq.ft. I had hoped one unit would do the trick like the last one. I may move it to a central location before I buy another unit. That would be a 5 star rating- after a few months of being bug free. I should probably gift one to my downstairs neighbor but alas, more research, as he has a dog. Mixed reviews and info on that topic.Hope at least some of this may have helped you in your research.Update: I thought I was in the clear after 3 days without bugs. On the 4th day, however, I was greeted by not 1 or 2, but 5 bugs. Not the roaches, but the smaller ones (babies?) Definitely "smart " bugs - they know to scurry when they see you. One of them seemed to have difficulty with the scurrying part and seemed confused so maybe it was hit hard with the magic beam.I was almost resolved to just calling the exterminator and be done with this mess. But maybe this was what they warned you about. Well, apparently it was. After that day, I have yet to see any barf bugs, big or small. I'm still on the lookout but I am holding off on the exterminator as of this writing.UPDATE; 30 DAYS LATER:I reduced the # of stars. It seems that a for day or two I don't see any bugs-then, bam! Bugs are back.Unless these things are falling from the sky, they just have to be coming from the downstairs unit. (Brand new tenant in the other downstairs unit.) The best option is for everyone to get an exterminator and rid ourselves of this mess once and for all. I spoke to the alleged tenant and he claims he doesn't have any bugs - but also quickly added that he can't afford an exterminator. Hmmm.. why add that statement?I read great reviews for combat roach strips so I put all 10 out, plus 6 of another type, also combat. They've been in place for 5 days. Still see some small bugs, but I still don't know what they are, I'm thinking babies. They seem to be more resilient.Magic beam unit- it does seem to have an effect on the critters - they don't scurry as fast, it slows them down enough that I can hit them with my trusty terminex safe shield spray. Kills them instantly. Stinks, but it's a natural spray and is safe around pets.I'm wondering if this unit is more geared toward larger beasts, up to mouse size. I'm thinking about buying the riddex unit I used to have. If one extermination would resolve the problem I would just pay it for it, but I can't continue the maintenance every quarter for the entire building. I'm praying the combination of everything works. I do have a few calls into exterminators to get a variety of opinions. I'm also going to speak to the condo association to see if they can force someone that claims they don't have bugs to exterminate. I hate the thought of moving but I'm also tired of having to put silverware, utensils, etc., into plastic bags before I put them in drawers.Oh what a nightmare.

Easy
The green light trigger is very sensitive. As soon as you close a curtain, it comes on in auto mode.Other than that, I can't tell much about the pest repelling action.I have not had many intruder so far, but wanted it as a precaution.Assembly (there aren't any) is easy, just plug it into an outlet that you want to protect, set the mode switch on the side of the unit and off you go.The green light can also be used as a night light, it emits enough light to see your path. The built in LED's indicate the functioning of the unit e.g. a yellow/orange indicates movement and the green one is the power on indicator.I placed it into the dining/kitchen/living room area and am not sure if it can actually cover this rather large area.

It worked after 3 weeks, but then . . . .
***UPDATE*** 11/21/16Well, our hopes have been dashed as we saw a mouse in the kitchen this morning and found droppings that weren't there at the time I wrote my first review 2 weeks ago. The unit is set up correctly and there are no objects in front of the sensors. Will reach out to Apesto to see if they have any suggestions but will now downgrade my review from 5 to 2 stars.. : (11/9/16We've tried peppermint and other essential oils, humane traps, and even thought of getting a cat. I bought 3 of these a month ago in the hopes of fixing our mice problem w/out using poisons (I have a 20-month old) or inhumane traps. Our biggest issue is in the kitchen and the Apesto was our last resort. We didn't see any change (we look for mice droppings) in the first 2.5 weeks and then had to go away for 10 days knowing that if this electronic repellent didn't work, then we'd see a lot of droppings and have to find another solution. Well, we got home last night and couldn't believe our eyes . . . . no droppings at all in the kitchen!!!!So, this is definitely working so far and we're hopeful it'll continue. We hope we've found the perfect solution!

Absolutely No Effect on Mice
I ordered this product and have used it continuously for three and a half weeks, to date. It is positioned approximately four feet away from the area of greatest mice activity. There has been no noticeable change and I've gone on to other methods, leaving this device in place. I'm happy others have had good results, but I cannot recommend this purchase.

Higly recommend this product
I have read about everything on bat control. Tried naftaline, other pest repellent electrical devices, but this little thing really works. I have a long outdoor terrace, and there were droppings on three areas. Now its only down to one area, which is about 80 feet away (open spaces) and will buy two more, since they (the bats) decided to move. Higly recommend this product,

The Very Best!!
It is the absolute Best!! We are very pleased with the results. The mice have left and we are relieved:). I hope that they do not decide to come back as the weather gets cooler. I will be purchasing a couple more to be sure. We live in an apartment that is about 1500square ft. And are using one device currently. Uts good to have one for inside walls and outside perimeter of your home to have it all covered. It works!!

I bought 3 Apesto's for 3 different areas of my 2 bedroom place. Two of the areas have been a total success in that all traces of the mice are gone. I am still having a problem with the third location because I can't figure out where the mice are coming in from. But, I'll keep experimenting by moving around the Apesto.

Does Not Repel Spiders
I purchased two of these. One for my garage and one for my basement. Both have been used for about a year. Although there was less mice activity in my garage over the winter, the one in the basement does not scare away spiders. There is literally a spider's nest right next to it and the entire room has your typical basement spiders all over the ceilings .
