Recommend
It is very loud and should wake anyone up in the deepest sleep, it does really well with getting you the weather it has an option for batteries so if you need to unplug it and take it with you to your shelter you can. It is pretty easy to program all you need to know is what you local weather radio station is

Definitely worth the price for the safety
Great little radio, good volume, easy to set up. Very nice to get the Noah alert for severe weather and tornadoes regardless of where my cell phone is. It's in the central portion of the house and we can hear it both upstairs and downstairs when it alarms

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Clear reception even inside my 1/4" thick-walled, plate steel tornado shelter.
First of all, the set up was VERY easy, took about 25 minutes, including getting the "code" for my county. Had an issue with getting through on the NOAA web site, which wasn't connecting. I had to go through a few "hoops" but finally got the information. It gave me 4 frequency options for my county. Input each one until I found the one with the clearest reception. Reception is UNBELIEVABLE!! I took it into my tornado shelter, which is in my garage. It is made of 1/4" plate steel on all 4 sides and the roof. It is tightly bolted to the concrete floor. I closed the door to pretty much "seal" it, turned the radio on for a local forecast, and it didn't miss a beat. I could hear everything just like I could if it was in the backyard. By comparison, my cell phone has NO reception in this same area. I recommend extending the 22" antenna fully up. I found a major difference in the reception with it fully extended, compared to just leaving it down and clamped to the radio itself. I left the factory defaults for the many assorted warnings that it is capable of, even if the vast majority will NEVER be used, (not too many earthquakes in Dallas). In the last 3 months or so, since i got it, has gone off several times so far when we had severe weather/tornado watches. Radio will wake you up. The speaker was more than good enough for the purpose. To be honest, the speaker may be excellent, but the quality of the actual NOAA radio broadcast is "functional", when you hear the message, your aren't listening to music, you just want the facts. The electric cord is long, maybe 6 feet or so, more than long enough for most people. The battery bak-up works, but don't know for how long, the most I have had it disconnected from electricity is about 15 minutes. I like that I can press down a button and get the immediate weather forecast for my area...SWEET! Don't have to go online, just hit the button on the radio, that is next to the bed. Overall, this is a great improvement from the 10 year old unit that it replaced and a price that is much less.

3 AA batteries are required; NOT 6 AAA batteries
Great product, HOWEVER, Product Information on web site states that 6 AAA batteries are required. THIS IS INCORRECT. Three AA batteries are actually required. Four stars because of this issue.

Emergency Radio - Easy Set up and Loud to Wake You Up
Good directions provided so the emergency radio is easy to set up. Volume can be controlled so it will alert you to any weather emergencies based on how you set it up.Easy to see to set up. Radio is small enough to fit on side table in hallway close to bedrooms.

Great weather radio
It was easy to set up. The radio can be programmed to select specific areas and alert types, which was also easy to setup. Volume can be controlled. Morning wake-up to FM radio works well (shuts of after 10 minutes). With antenna extended, I can get good signals for all uses.

don't waste time watching TV weather without one!
I had one of these years ago but it got damaged and I finally replaced it. Easier to set up than I expected. Shows up with the alarm and the voice instructions when they send the emergency signal. Since the weather reporting is ruined too, this is more necessary than it used to be.

Great, if i am visiting the USA that is...
i paid for this thinking since it has the S.A.M.E. feature it could be programmed to any country but no just within USA or Canada. Worked fine for a couple seconds with batteries in but had to find an adapter and keep it plugged into the wall; if I didn't have an adapter as it comes with the 2 pronged USA charger. The material feels fairly cheap particularly the charging cord and it feels could snap at any moment; the device itself 1. it reminds me of an early 00s CD player you carry around with you, which isn't bad but it doesn't last with the 3x double AA batteries (i tried a couple different ones, brand new) and so i can't really carry around with me and doesn't pick up any of the stations as I am on the other side of the atlantic so if I decided to go to USA to visit my friends or visit my family in Canada I can't even check for potential storms and so on, as even with the antenna doesn't pick up anything, just static and i can't even program with the feature to the region and place I am in 2.when you turn towards you you can't see anything on the display; it has 2 little collapsible legs so it's at an angle but if for example you tried mounting it to the wall you can't see anything. Can't pick up any stations or program it to where I am unfortunately. Tried to see if i could and reading the instructions and watching videos of the same product so I could have a reason to keep it but unfortunately will have to return it.
